Yeah. That's dementia. He's actually doing well all things considered, living at home and so on.
What a bastard of a condition.
My short term memory is shot to ****, I am genuine nelly getting worried by it, but testing with friends of a similar age it seems we are all in the same boat.
Sb, with having had several family members suffering from dementia, I can tell you that the short term memory goes in the first instance.
Long term memory holds on till the short term memory continues to stretch back, joining the long term memory, until all is gone.
My wife's uncle .............. a brilliant musician and the resident band at a club in Sydney for over 30 years.
The gentleman was the perfect host for all types of functions ................... now he is a reclusive frightened man that life has withdrawn from.
Very sad indeed.
On a positive note, having just clicked over another digit, now 56, I can tell you most people l know of our age, suffer memory loss on a weekly basis.
For me, it can be almost daily. Busy lifestyles, work, multitasking, all play there part is making us feel we are losing it.
I don't believe we are .............. just yet.
We're simply getting older, a little wiser l hope, with life experiences.
