I'm inbound so no hard sells, simple stuff no stress and a good wage considering you could train a chicken to do this.
I talk to PhDs and profs at all day at work. Imagine the contrast when I get to the Cheese afterwards
That's a very admirable job. Good for you. I've never had a job that "matters". Not something I'm proud of.
Manager of a small charity / community group. Done many different things during my thirteen year reign
cool job sky... gerrez... you need to start skimming off the top. I am an engineering team lead soon to be "business analyst" for a multinational company who have decided making things is passe and brand is enough to run the show whole others make the products. my job in the next 12 months is "cost reduction"
Thanks mate I've always done some kind of support work. I spent many years doing various psychology degrees at Uni - then went straight into working in the prison system as a drug support worker. Then other bits of support work here and there (mainly substance misuse), but my current job is probably the most rewarding. Especially when you see a young person come in that can't even look you in the eye, and is clearly very emotionally damaged - then they leave after a year or so with their head held high, started a new job and moving into their first flat etc. I get a real buzz out of that kind of stuff. Obviously to each success there are some sad stories too, but if I can try and make a difference to just a few then I'm happy with that It's actually a right laugh at times, once you build up a relationship we just have pure banter with each other, take them out go-karting, paint-balling, cinema all kinds of activities. So there are plenty of perks. I guess that helps balance the fact that support workers (even at management level) don't get a great wage - it's far from bad but it's far from amazing! But it's not about the money for me. I have all I need in life.
I started out in corporate learning, moved into sports management and am now an independent property trader. I wanted to be a sports journalist...
