Kevin Doyle out of Republic's Serbia friendly

Andy Reid, Rob Elliot and Kevin Doyle have withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad for Wednesday's friendly against Serbia at the Aviva Stadium.

QPR striker Doyle has a thigh injury while Newcastle keeper Elliot has a knee problem.

Brian Murphy is called up to Republic of Ireland squad
Goalkeeper Brian Murphy has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for Wednesday's friendly against Serbia.

The QPR player will provide cover for injured Newcastle netminder Rob Elliot, who withdrew from the squad last week.

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has added Murphy to his list of goalkeeping options alongside David Forde and Darren Randolph.

He will link up with the squad for training in Malahide on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday's game in Dublin.

Armand Traore is undergoing treatment for a back problem and is a doubt for QPR’s game against Birmingham this weekend.

The former Arsenal man was hurt towards the end of Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Leeds - a match he featured in after passing a fitness test - but played on because Rangers had used their three substitutions.

A trapped nerve is causing pain in his leg as well as back, and his condition will be assessed in the next 48 hours.

Traore has been in good form of late, having previously been out of favour under manager Harry Redknapp.

Rangers are also hoping that Niko Kranjcar and Gary O’Neil shake off injuries before Saturday’s match.
