I haven’t posted on here for the best part of 10 years (for a variety of reasons) but this carry on has had me glued to this thread for the last 3 weeks.

What an absolutely ridiculous, glorious, only Sunderland event, this has turned into.

Whatever happens, who’s right, who’s in the know, who’s not, you are all truly fantastic & I thank you all for nearly 800 pages of carnage. Outstanding. I have done zero work for weeks

The Occam's razor answer to all this is that we're floundering around after Still turned us down (rightly, if we're totally honest) to go to Lens and now all of this is just people on all sides going a bit silly. I'll be surprised if we have anyone before pre-season given the glacial pace we've moved this summer.

The Echo aren’t really on the pulse all that often. I’d be surprised if we’ve not made a decision by now. It’s ridiculous if we haven’t!

If you assume that the Echo were briefed by the club (along with Romano) to so confidently dismiss the Wicky reports then you'd probably have to think them saying 20 minutes later that nothing is imminent is probably coming from the club too?

If that's true, which is debatable. I think they're after someone who was deemed unattainable at some point but they're trying there best to persuade him/waiting for an answer either way.

It just feels like we've put all our eggs in the Still basket and been pied off late in the day. We're now scrabbling around having pissed the likes of Maric off.

If the Echo story is correct, which considering they had the same info as Romano at the same time suggests they may actually have this correct, the club still assessing options just isn't good enough at this stage. It's June in 2 days, it is also near the end of the 3rd week of that supposed 3 week timeframe. People can make excuses all they want but this search for a new head coach isn't ok and hasn't been for a while now.

Even things like 'waiting for the right appointment' isn't a valid excuse in my opinion, if that person doesn't want to come by now they never will.
