This is spot on. I'm not sure if all fans think like this, but I find that a lot of Sunderland fans (those who post ****e on forums anyway) feel like we can/should be cherry picking the very best of the Championship in terms of players as well as managers.

Even Rohl/Cifuentes are quite unrealistic in the sense that their clubs will be asking a lot of compensation and those managers may feel it's a sideways step.

Sorry like but if we can’t attract Sheff Weds manager then we aren’t ambitious enough it’s as simple as that. We aren’t talking about poaching a bigger clubs manager.. They’re a club that are totally in the ****, massive ructions with the owner, skint etc.

The issue isn't that we're not in a better position than Sheff Wed imo, it's more that we're not sufficient enough of a step. If he has them top 10 early next season (there form is that good this season) then he'll have a Premier League or Bundesliga offer by November.

And it's got nothing to do with a lack of ambition on our part either, it just wouldn't make sense as a progressive move for him.

Got nothing to do with ambition though, sometimes managers just decide another team is better place for their development

Every manager will have different priorities for what they want from the club they work for

Pretty sure it’s not Maric (unfortunately) one of the best (but most understated) ITKs on RTG has agreed with The Training Ground Guru’s tweet that there’s been no discussions with the club.

Wonder where all the noise from the other day came from then. Hopefully we appoint someone within the next 2 weeks.

Sorry, scratch that, the same lad has just said he was just saying it to wind up @Fly Me To The Moon from here who is on there as well.

Apologies also, for indulging in the he says, she says thing across the two boards - it winds me up when others do it so I shouldn't be such a hypocrite. Sorry.

:emoticon-0140-rofl: The season hasn't even finished and we've got ITK wars going on

Course it has. If we’re the ambitious project we think we are as fans then it’s the owners job to relay that to potential managers. If you can’t convince someone to leave a club that will be relegation fodder again next season whilst being cash strapped and continual protests against the ownership then who can you convince?

It depends on what would motivate him to move. Either way, a manager not wanting to move here is no indication of our level of ambition. The managers that we're looking to approach is the only indicator of that.

I get that mate, but ask yourself what would keep him at Sheff Wed over coming here? If KLD can’t sell this club to Rohl enough for him to leave them then for us then that’s appalling (obviously unless he took another offer from a bigger/better club). If you asked the same question of someone like Wagner at Norwich then fair enough but they’re a club that are on the edge of disaster.

My Two pennies worth. I'm just going to sit back and see what's going to unfold. Too many times I've got myself caught up in the magic of pre season, buzzing to see who the next manager is, players we could sign, ambition for where we'll finish next season etc. Add to that this year the Hummel shirts with waves of nostalgia, plans for the stadium etc, all sounds and looks good, but I think that's where I personally (probably others aswell) set myself up for a fall when it doesn't quite pan out. Not being negative, more cautious because you have to think there's a busy summer a head and alot to get "Right" and getting everything right all at once doesn't usually happen, so I'm just going to wait and see. Will the mods to the stadium effect budgets for players etc. We'll see.

Yeah, on paper we're probably a better prospect than Wednesday. I think there are more factors involved in it than just that though. Loyalty, his next move, how much of a step up we are, and all sorts of personal issues will come in to it.

Totally agree mate. Lots going right off the field at the minute hopefully we nail it and move forwards on the pitch. Recruitment has to be spot on this summer

The fella who did the podcast with Maric has doubled down and said it's up to date information he has.

Maybe it was Barry we were interviewing in Munich after all.

The same ITK who said it was Maric also said about the club taking out a £30m loan so the silver lining of it not being Maric would be that the other story is less believable too.

Maric seems like a decent appointment to me, if true. Seems like an intelligent lad who knows his stuff. Hopefully he comes here and it converts to success.

Fair play to that lad otr for sticking his knackers on the line, not many would.

I may have missed this completely, but both the Northern Echo and Sunderland Echo reported that Maric was touted to us in the German media. I haven't seen it anywhere?!?!

Or is it just the standard dropping lower and lower where they need to make up sources instead of just admitting they got it from a forum?

Doubt we'll have long to wait though, think there'll be someone in by next Friday at the latest.
