Things at Sunderland, as Mowbray discovered, are tightly controlled with a rigid administration, unlike Rangers ...

... any new head coach has to fit in and won't be allowed to be spontaneous and capricious.
I think the key word here Smug is rigid. I understand that but it also can’t be too rigid where we lose a good manager because of it. During a season there will be ups and downs but to me At this stage we just needed to get to January and regroup and then we could add the obvious to the squad. All this is madness when we just needed stability and cool heads plus maybe a bit more experience at the top of the tree we might have avoided this. KS under a lot of pressure now as he has to get this next appointment right. I hope KLD has learnt from this debacle as well…onward and upwards.

All fair points mate and I agree with much of it.

However we were 2nd when Johnson was sacked and went up ...

... after the 6-0 horror show at Bolton, I don't believe he'd have taken us up.

The writing was on the same wall as it was for Mowbray imo.

Absolute bollocks.
I can’t get why people don’t see the big picture. Yes people are desperate to succeed and it can be frustrating but the better we perform financially the more we can invest, grow and become stronger. It’s a well disciplined model to me. I think they haven’t always got it entirely right eg strikers this year - but I can totally get their objectives.

Nice. I’m pleased for you.

I didn’t, and was eventually proved right.

The difference in opinion on TM betwen you and Tees shows the problem we will have with whoever we appoint as head coach. People criticising Beale because of what they have heard/read from certain quarters but seem willing to ignore what people within the game say about him.
If the story is true that we did have a plan, which was that Still was our no1 target, but had to look elsewhere when he insisted on bringing in his own staff, I can understand why we have picked on Beale.
If it is him, or if suddenly someone else is picked, there are always going to be people who are disappointed/angry/frustrated/etc, etc but at the end of the day we need to get behind him and support our YOUNG team.

Yes, you've already said you're clueless and can't think of anyone ...

... which gives you carte blanche to criticise whoever is appointed.

And you will <doh>
How do you don’t know that?

I didn’t criticise LJ, AN, PP. BSA, PDC, Poyet, to name a few that I didn’t criticise when they were appointed.

So you actually know feck all mate, and you’re starting to bore me.

BUT if I think a wrong choice is being made, I’ll say so. It’s a FORUM.

Ok, this morning I got a call back of a person of interest at Rangers.
He claims, Michael, eye he's OK, a good coach did well with Stevie G great at tactically with the boys, knows his stuff.

I personally met him once at a golf charity do through Coisty.
Only half an hour but he seemed OK.

Now earlier I said posted Beal ffs.
Now if my mate is right, and he does know his coaching then I'm gonna relax.
Thanks for sharing this. My originals comment was about being underwhelmed, but that would have applied to most of the names being discussed as I know nothing about them.
There’s been far too much instant criticism with very little to back it up and it’s caused something of a meltdown on social media.
Someone on here said 99% of our fans are against the appointment of Beale, what a load of nonsense. A tiny number of internet warriors are brewing up a **** storm.
Whoever it is they will get my full support to give them a chance to move us forward, and I reckon most of our supporters will as well.

Yep fair do’s with Johnson but just coming from a place to stop this ever revolving door of managers/head coaches whatever they are called these days. Should have given TM at least through January. Seen a lot of posts where the new guy if it’s Beale should be sacked if he doesn’t do the business overnight. We have to get away from this in my opinion. The players must be thinking ffs.

Sorry just seen this

No problem. I like the way we are ran now and not throwing money around for the sake of it.
But if beale turns out to be a great appointment I would say it was a better deal for the club with him being out of rather than having to pay compensation for someone. Better to keep cost down where possible.

For some people, throwing money around is the only acceptable option.

Why sack Mowbray then??? Theres none available we were struggling but sacking him for a lesser manager just because theres no better available is an amateurish way to run a club imo
Sorry but we were not going up with Mowbray in the hot seat. All evidence points to it, a shot at playoffs at best and that’s it. Club has higher ambitions and TM’s top end for me was maybe make it through playoffs into the prem with a valiant but ultimately doomed attempt to stay up. KLD has higher ambitions for the club. Whether it was now or at end of the season it felt quite clear he was done. Either he’d walk or be pushed, could have been either. Just cause the players like him simply isn’t enough.

To state categorically that Beale isn’t as good a head coach goes against the data in terms of wins or their time in the old firm. The club is run professionally by people who are slowly proving themselves to be fairly astute at recruitment. Staying Beale is a lesser manager may be true if you include the role of recruitment which he made a mess of at Rangers. As a head coach, there is clear evidence he’s very well thought of in terms of player development and tactics. Think it’s time to give the club the benefit of the doubt for now.

In those days. It wasn’t an issue. I was only a boy.

A boy who was attacked by a group of adult THUG MAGS outside Roker Park. I should add cowardly seeing as no colours were on display.

Took some beatings myself mate but just came with the territory at away games in the 70’s…still loved Bob Stokoe though. Think we might have won something when he took over….

There was a time, recently, when supporters would've begged for such an appointment imo.
