I've had a potential idea for a game based around designing your own track. The idea would be that people submit track idea's (or just me if people can't be bothered) and we have a virtual race on them. We could have say a 10 race season and I could run one race as a demonstrator.
I have quickly created a track at my adopted home, "The Liverpool GP" which is a anticlockwise 8km circuit.
The idea of the game involves people setting up the car for a race based on information I supply. Things to be setup include downforce, tyres, suspension etc. You could select a level from 1-5 for all parts (with the scale meaning things that I'll specify) and the closer you are to the ideal setup the faster you will go. Tyres will be the standard tyres with only life and speed as variables.
Overtaking will be based on a overly simple version where I would say the track is medium and that would mean you'd need to be 0.4s a lap quicker to overtake.
I can create a program that will be able to work with a certain amount of variables and its basically using how a track looks and the blurb to decide how to set up your car.
Eg
FW: 3 (1 low 5 high)
RW: 4
Gear: 2 (1 accel 5 top speed)
Sus: 4 (1 soft 5 hard)
Tyres: soft (choice of all tyres with only rough guides of how long each will last)
Ideal:
FW: 4 (0.2s/lap lost)
RW: 4 (optimal)
Gear: 3 (0.2s/lap lost)
Sus: 2 (0.5s/lap lost)
Tyres: (life: 22 laps, 0.3s/lap slower than ES's)
