Just the job. Can you get one every quarter of an hour? Cheers BB. It really emphasises how much the ground is dug into the slope on this side. I often wonder what away supporters think when they come along Vicarage Road for the first time. 'Little stand- have we come to a league 2 ground?' We're used to the view as it opens up when you get into the Vic Road end. Possibly one of the finest sights in football .
One of the very few grounds (certainly in the League) where you go through the turnstiles and down to your seat in the stand..........
Scott Duxbury clarifies the very latest news with regard to the building of the new stand at home of the Hornets… AFTER over a decade of promises and false dawns, an imposing new structure will adorn the east side of Vicarage Road during the 2014/15 season. The exact timing of the opening of the new Watford FC Community Stand remains fluid, with a number of enhancements, improvements and other adjustments for the long-term benefit of the club and its supporters having been made since the first works began some months ago. Hornets’ CEO Scott Duxbury explains of the developments: “Everyone involved with the new stand’s development is excited by the way things are taking shape and determined that it should reach its conclusion as soon as practical. "The old, existing east stand is currently being demolished with the new steel and concrete stand being installed immediately after demolition and piling. The Vicarage Road end extension will be installed during the first week of July. "It is therefore anticipated the entire structure will be in place for the start of the new season - although finishing work to enable the stand to be fully open for supporters will continue for several weeks after this. “We decided some time ago to implement changes to the original design brief to deliver a far more enhanced structure for our needs. These decisions were made with the full knowledge that the final completion date could be put back. "However I would sooner deliver a structure we can all be proud of than work to an arbitrary deadline that, quite frankly, does not have to be met." He acknowledged: "Clearly the start of the new season is an important date and if we can achieve a part opening of the stand for this then that's great. "However if this date can not be met because of the new design improvements then this does not concern me. It's precisely for this reason we have not pre-sold or pre-allocated any seats in the new stand. "I would sooner have the completion date put back a few weeks and deliver a stand for the long-term benefit of the club and, most importantly, our supporters." Note: Supporters who formerly sat on the east side of the ground and responded to the club’s initial communication, accepting the chance to consider a priority ‘move-back' opportunity, will receive further correspondence sent to postal addresses held on file in due course. Sounds great and glad they are doing it properly rather than rushing, or only doing a part-job Whats a few more weeks when we've been waiting so long for it!!
Looks as if the web cam has been stuck since noon. The guy looking into the remains could be hoping he might find the safe key.
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...proud_of_than_work_to_an_arbitrary_deadline_/ The article echoes Yorkshire's post!

As Eric Morcambe used to say, you can hardly see the join.. Someone has been having fun with photoshop or similar!
Was visiting somewhere near the Vic today so took a little walk down Occupation Road to have a peek at progress. We can all see what is going on at the front from the webcam link. Not the greatest picture ever, taken on my phone through a gap in some metal fencing, but there seems to be some progress underneath. Breeze blocks and some internal walls seem to be in place half way across the rear of the stand built so far as the changing room areas, I assume, are being constructed.
Looking at what's left of the 1969 extension it was pretty grim underneath. Even allowing for the fact it hasn't been used for getting on for 10 years it is horrid even for 2004.
Going, going, almost gone. Swear I can now see Nurse Gladys Emmanuel hanging out of her bedroom window.
