"Madness?" The constant tinkering with our identity is madness IMO. " Preposterous delusions of grandeur"? I never saw that. But we had the ambition and drive to reach the PL and play there 3 seasons out of the last 5. Fact. Far better that than the current timidity projected by the Club and loved seemingly by many now with hands being rubbed gleefully at seasons of consolidation building with lower league players. I hope and trust that our Owners realise the need for a more rapid return to the PL, and find the right balance of players and Management to do it. We did it wrong the last time, but are very unlikely ever to do it again without some established Championship and technically good players. Fill the squad with lower League players and that is probably where we will go, complete with a back yard crest. Whoopee...

Chillax dude! I wasn't talking about the badge as a reflection of where the club is (or was) overall - I was merely talking about the old badge typifying Briatore's weird vision of making QPR a 'boutique' club for his wealthy pals.

As far as the badge goes however, removing the ridiculous crown, and whatever the hell those things at the side were, and reverting to a simpler design, the elements of which we've used before is hardly 'tinkering with our identity'.

The new crest is a clean and sharp design. I like it and it is much better than the former. Let's not even think of changing it for the next number of decades. The club did a great PR job with it and well done. However it is only a crest and let's move on.

I envisage that soon we will be liking our a new kit and it is good that we are able to manage the basics. Let's hope that this is followed by the training ground, good scouting, youth players coming through, etc.

However, I hope that next season onwards, we will be equally enthusiastic about about the players, the way we play and our performances on the pitch. After all, that is our soul.

I would have liked to keep elements of the last crest, the shield with blue and white hoops looked decent, just ditch the silver sideburns and the crown and it would have been great. The new design isn't really new though is it? I wonder how much we paid the graphic designers to come up with a badge that looks the same as one we've already had.

We should have let Blue Peter have a crest design competition and be made to stick with the crayon dawb that won. "And Billy aged six from Acton has drawn a lovely picture of a house with lovely blue and white hoops" Yay, crayon house!

Agree entirely that the shield with the hoops would have looked good without all the crap around it.

Historically, QPR had a shield. The circular crest is relatively recent.

Historically for many years we didn't have a badge on the shirt at all, which is rather cool. Look at pictures of the 67 League Cup Final.

I like it, even its a bit dull-ish but its like us as a club. Hope we keep it for the next fifty yrs at least. Changing the crest after every ten years is ridicolous.

Yes, branding wasn't much of a feature in those days. A QPR scarf was just blue and white stripes without more. You could wear it to any ground in the country that played in blue and white!

I still have my early seventies scarf and have worn it incognito to several non QPR games......
