That's why I put the "try to" disclaimer in there (also to cover last season's indiscipline). If Jay Bothroyd exemplified a great personality then he might not get so much stick. We do get more intense and higher quality viewing at the expense of the lighter side of things so shouldn't really complain. I suppose that makes any "crazy gang" actually crazy relative to the current circumstances in which case a modern equivalent is possible and, therefore, why not our disparate bunch?
It wouldn't matter if Jay Bothroyd was Harry Hill, he'd still be a lazy cu*t with the touch of a rapist. The crazy gang comparison is ridiculous because they were a side made up of bargain basement buys, free transfers, chancers and head-bangers. They didn't have a Stadium and their Manager was a Clown. Their style of play was physical to the point of breaking the rules and half of them were nut cases. How in the name of all that is holy, that could be compared to where we are now is totally beyond me. Soopermack, a bit of Mayo on that if you please
swords, judging by your ill thought out, petty, childish posts, it seems that maybe all things in life are totally beyond you! you may even be beyond you...............
That was our transfer policy last close season and included Barton and Bothroyd. My point is, players have to be reminded to have fun by managers like Neil Warnock (a common phrase in his interviews) who then get classified as too old fashioned or not up to the job of a modern Premiership manager. Fun is almost outlawed and so today's equivalent to the crazy gang would be massively scaled down. I get the feeling that, despite calls for sensible responses, I've just wasted a total of 10 mins of my life on this thread that I'm not getting back....
I think that may well be the case Matty lad. Last season is an entirely different matter. Totally. In fact I started a thread around about one year ago likening our situation to that of the Crazy Gang (you mention Barton but he was part of the post-takeover cash splashing) and I remember Brix agreeing on it. Its probably impossible to dig it up now. But to compare our current situation with that of Wimbledon is quite simply absurd. It also betrays a lamentable (and annoying) lack of any kind of Football knowledge on behalf of the OP who, for reasons unknown, decided to name himself after a fast-food outlet.
Swords, I may be new on here but I know all about your antagonistic behaviour. Fishing around the threads dropping in various baits, then sitting back waiting for a bite. Are you perhaps lonely, not getting any attention in the real world? Well, although you are way out of your depth with me, I urge you to continue to try. Because only then will others learn how to deal with you, by watching your epic failure. I will listen to you and answer sensible questions, but you'll just have to get used to the fact that even bullies meet their match eventually.....
He is harmless really and relies heavily on the expertise of Flyer to compose most of his posts ... Good to see you have got a pair of Accoutrema glasses so early.
I have no probs with him really DT, and if i'm honest he writes good stuff when it's about the subject! A lot of the people on here say they love him because he's funny and shakes the conversations up a bit. But I think they're just being a bit nostalgic because he may have started off lighthearted and tongue in cheek, but all I see now is an insatiable thirst for confrontation!! I was brought up in a family of piss takers and I'm no different, my mates are all the same too. But you do it to make each other laugh, he just seems to do it to get attention from his little gang. Which is the very essence of a bully.........
Maybe swords was half right about my analogy, I just got the team wrong. Maybe swords boys are the forums crazy gang, and himself our very own vinnie/wise cross breed?
With a starting line up of... Green, Fabio, Ferdinand, Nelsen, Traore, Diakite, Park, Hoillet, Taarabt, Cisse, Zamora We would have an average age of 27. If you swap Nelsen with Onuoha it drops to 26.2
