Logic would suggest that you're right AHLL, but with Bowyer I'm not so sure. If there is a point beyond which LB will not tolerate Roland mucking him around, Bowyer has never yet indicated he is anywhere near it.
From today's Standard ….. Charlton Athletic are set to re-open contract talks with Lee Bowyer over a new contract. It is understood the club have contacted Bowyer, who is on holiday, and his representatives are due to meet club officials. Bowyer has entered the final month of his contract with his future unresolved despite leading Charlton back into the Championship with a dramatic play-off win over Sunderland at Wembley. It is understood he was close to agreeing a deal in principle if Charlton stayed in League One, but promotion means circumstances have changed. Bowyer succeeded despite the awkward position at The Valley and several clubs have been impressed by the work he did last season. He has said he wants to stay at the club where he started his playing career in 1994.
He trousered all the Lookman and Fox money. He feels no need to defend his actions; in his mind anyone who does not respect his large brain is an idiot.
You do realise even if Will be the same with aribo. Get the best players signed up or on longer contracts. Taylor starts scoring quite a few by Christmas some other club will be biting our hands off for £5 million . I sometimes think I'm the only one who sees this.
Bowyer probably wants assurances for what they are worth. The same as the players , they are only going to sign a new/extended contract if bowyers still here.
Did Roland have no faith in us getting promoted? Surly they'd have discussed his contract too if they went up?
The Belgian had a plan for us to break even in L1 next year... promotion has meant that these calculations need to be revised … yes we get @£5m in TV money rather than £400,000 but costs probably rise more than £4.5m. Did he expect us to be in the Championship?... no I guess he was hoping we would stay in L1
The Belgian's masterplan has always been to prove that he has, with the brilliant Thomas Driesen, the genius to break even in the world of football.
Millwall are interested in signing Portsmouth striker Jamal Lowe - just the calibre of playing we should be looking at.
Rich Cawley today - Jonny Williams - I want to stay, and I won’t be greedy. Both quotes. Get on with it, and sign him up.
