I keep hearing little bits about this subject, nothing definite (hence source! <whistle>), but it got me thinking, if one does appear, I'm pretty sure Levy will want some assurance he won't go for the England job. Not a wise move for me, it could be a relationship breaker.

Also, has HR's latest health issue put a spanner in everything anyway. He's quoted (as usual!) his doctors comments, who doesn't quite share Harry's optimism, don't want him going the same way as Houllier, but you just never know.

My vote is going for Pardew now, seems to have got a bunch 'o' ****ers playing quite well, so fits the bill perfectly imo! :D
 
I can understand Levy wanting to know where he stands with Harry,if he's offered the England job will he take it?After all it is his job to find a replacement if needed,so it's understandable to find out what Harry will be doing.If he is going it's best to know asap and start looking for somebody new.
 
Would be a major disappointment if Arry left for the England job but who would you like to take over I reckon Jose is a good shout. If we have a good season this year I reckon he would be really interested as well!
 
I have always said that the England manager these days cannot have any skeletons in his closet. Not only that but anyone related to him, anyone who played with him or for him, or somebody he spoke to once in a motorway service station in 1987 or any such random encounters cannot have them either. Otherwise the press will wait until a major tournament and **** you over. I am thinking that a skeleton or at least the odd bone is floating around somewhere, Harry has worked with some "colourful" characters in the past after all. I think he will reflect on it and think to himself that it is not worth the agg. Especially if we're flying.
 
International management being a bit less work would probably suit him now. I've always believed that if the FA want him, they've got him unless we pay big money. Even if he signed a new contract I think it'd only bump our compensation for him being nicked.

Although truth be told THE worst thing someone with a heart condition can do is accept the England post! Easily the most stressful and pressurising job in the world. Who knows- maybe the operation and its much longer than expected recovery time will give Arry some time to mull things over and think: Is it really worth killing myself and getting slaughtered by the press for the likes of John Terry and Glenn Johnson?!

Take a look at the last 'English' managers to take charge of England and where they ended up:

Glenn Hoddle, Kevin Keegan, Steve Mclaren.

It's a curse I tell you, a curse!!
 
Before anyone gets the wrong idea, Pardew for the England job! (more to irritate Toon!)

Some good points here, the tax thing, (what happened to that! <whistle>, Storrie and Mandaric attended in July.) The other being any contract offered and signed, will need buying out by the FA. Still think Pardews the man for England!

Or, should we push on for Ancellotti while he's available. At the end of the day its whats best for Spurs, and there's no easy answer here.
 
I think the Greeks put the tax evasion into perspective when they had a dentist claim to have only earnt £250 in the whole year :D
 
I think it's better for Harry's health if he takes the England job, the commuting ATM can't be doing him any good. All those hour sat in the car for 9/10 months a year must be worse for the heart than the stress of a 90 minute game, be it managing either England or Spurs.

But hey, I'm no doctor, so may be talking rubbish.

I want Harry to stay as our manager, but I can honestly see it as better for him, and therefore probably us too, if he made way IF the England job is offered.
 
I still think that he'll take it and Ancelotti seems to have put himself forward as his replacement.
If Redknapp does go, then I'll wish him well and hope that the new man is given time to adjust to the role by our fans.
As things stand, it won't be an easy pair of shoes to step into.

On the flip side, being Spurs manager won't make him the target of every tabloid journo and fickle fan every time England lose, draw, or beat any country whose name fans prefix with the word "only" by at least six goals in the way that being England manager does. Also, as Spurs manager he won't be dealing with colossal egos of numerous players, or the egos and self-interest of various club managers who want to keep players for themselves, or the inevitible OTT jingoism that sees journos and pundits proclaim a England to be potential winners of every tournament before a ball is kicked in qualifying, let alone the tournament itself.
 
Off the top of my head, the only easy jobs in international football are Wales and New Zealand - because their rugby coach is the person with a bullseye painted to them.

You couldn't see John Toshak, whose mere appointment led to a string of palyers retiring from international duty, lasting three months in the England job - let alone three weeks in Italy, Spain, Argentina, Brazil or anywhere else who expect a degree of success.
 
I would love for Redknapp to stay with us for 4 or 5 more years, and give the cub some real stability and longevity. If he continues in the same manner that he has for the last 3 years, bringing relative success while playing attractive football, he could become a real Spurs legend.

Taking the England job should be the crowning, final act of his career, and I think he has a few more years to give personally, he seems to be ageing better than other managers of his generation have.

A minor heart operation is hardly the end of the world, what I menat by this is that if you watch videos of him taking training etc. he seems extremely physically capable for a man in his mid-sixties, he could easily be ten years younger.
