It wasn't a go at you marra, it was a go at all those who said he should never play for the club again.
I suspect we've all done things we regret & after reading his comments after the Man U game, I know in my heart he is with us.
I just wish the rest were as committed as he is.

Casino was never an issue to me... The Instagram thing was almost unforgivable.. It WAS unforgivable at the time but he has more than made up for it and I have completely forgiven and forgotten

This should be every true fan's position.

I think if he keeps his performances up he's going to be up for SAFC Player Of The Year. What a turnaround that would be!

I agree to a point despite my feelings for the lad. I've always maintained he deserved a clean slate with Gus even if he didn't get one with me. I've always given him respect at matches and refrained from name calling on the forum.

Still, he's not technique enough to play our style. Think we can do better and there is no case of either heart or technique. The right player will be out their packing both.

He's playing much better the Celuska. Drop to 15k-18k a week in wages an give him the understanding he competes for a place and find a technically capable right back who's worth the sort of wage that Bardo is on and I'll be happy.

Long term I beleive we'll never progress in this style of play while we've got Bardo's, Gards and Catts in the team despite their heart. Heart doesn't give you composure and passing ability. Long term (Over the next two or 3 seasons) these players need to be phased out, expect Gardner who can leave now for me.

I don't buy it was a swipe at PDC and not the club as it was aimed at the club and in Bardo's eyes he had no future at the club. He was an angry petulant boy lashing out at anything. He aimed it at the club in his words not PDC and I'm not going to act like I know the lads personality to change the meaning of what he meant to taylor it to my view.

    “Great opening day. Hahahhahaha hahahhaha!!!”

That's only at Paolo is it? Somebody prove it or I take it in the context it clears reads. **** you PDC, **** you team mates, **** you fans and **** you SAFC.

I don't forgive him for the instagram, you saying I'm not a true fan? ****ty comment. I could say I'm the true fan because I took his mocking of Sunderland like mocking to my own family. Would it be fair for me to say you're not a true fan because you don't conform to my own opinion? Very unfair comment mate

I do believe you have to look at his actions in the context of what was going on behind closed doors at the club. It's only recently we've learned just how much in turmoil the club was.

That's not to excuse his actions, just to understand them. We've all thrown hissy fits in the past and done things we're not proud of. He just did his in the public eye and was slaughtered for it, and rightly so.

I don't bear a grudge against the lad. I'm just impressed with his behaviour and attitude since being given another chance and I think we should all recognise that.

Whether or not he has the technique for Gus's style of play is a whole new debate.

I prefer not to try and enter psych of someone i don't know personally to try and justify and find new meaning for public words just to make it conform to my own views. It's just wild guessing and nothing else. It may have been directed at just Paolo we'll never know. I do know the comments were published in a generalised fashion and out of order (As our club agreed in their suspending of him). I go on what I read, not what I want it to read.

The bold is all that really matters to me ultimately. Is he good enough to be a long serving right back under this philosophy? Imo no. But we've got more important positions to address this month and he playing ok with extra drive so that gives us time to focus elsewhere. New contract at 35k a week though? I'd be mortified.

I'd be happy to keep him Funk. If he keeps playing the way he has been, even contributing with goals as well, I think he'll fit right in with how Gus wants to play.

On his present wage? Even thought we could get better for less wages? I know is wage isn't his fault, he must have been rubbing his hands (like many would have been) when that contract was offered but it's from an era when Bruce and Quinn went a bit mental on wages and screwed our wage system up. Do you think Ellis would be willing to offer him the same wages for that matter? Only time will tell on that one. Honestly, though I don't forgive him for what he did I'd be happy to offer him a two year contract today for 15k a week with the negotiation space to go up to 20k a week.

Ffs man, this is proven prem player, and now you want him to drop down to championship wages?

I concede it's a daft amount of money still, but why should a formwe, and maybe yet again player of the year take a drop in wages, where as there are far to many donkeys in the squad getting damn good money.

This get's me thinking about the Colback contract also, although i'm not a fan of his, he should be paid what he's worth, in daft prem terms.

We'll just have to disagree on the past.

The size (length and cost) of any new contract will depend on what league we are in. And if Gus and ES think he's worth £30/35k they'll offer it, or if they think they can get better for less than they'll do so and Bards will be gone. We should find out soon enough.

Sorry mate don't agree, we've lost only one of our last 12 games and that was a 0-1 defeat to Villa, we're not exactly leaking goals anymore and that is down to a settled back four which also includes Bardsley, playing in a new system.
You can argue till you are blue in the face about what was said and the context it was said in, it's all pure speculation and only one person knows the answer to that and it isn't you or me. My thoughts at the time and they haven't changed, were that he was having a go at PDC and i was prepared to give the lad a chance to prove his worth. For me, he's done that or is doing that. I agree, he's not the most gifted of players as I've already said, neither is JOS, but the back 4 we have played recently seems to be working. He's also scoring goals and in fact if not for some of his goals we'd be a few points worse off so why should he take a pay cut?

Gus says he wants to keep him, that's good enough for me and why the hell would we sell out joint second top scorer?

Aye time will tell. I'm sure you understand why my views are the way they are. Some people are more forgiving and that's fair play, everyone is different. I'm very forgiving when it come to somebody wronging me but when someone attacks one of my own (SAFC, Our fans, my friends, my family and most of all my lady) I really struggle to forgive, but I'm hardly the most stable of character so I hope you can forgive me stubbornness.. I'm impressed with his efforts this season. Just wish that offensively he had that bit of technique to justify his wage. Not talking scoring, I'm talking picking the right pass, making the right run and mostly Executing the two well. It's a problem I have with a few of our players.

    Enjoyed this natter sandy. <ok>

    What is a 35k a week player?

Why do people talk about money? ****ers in Manchester in 250k a week.

Altidore for example (that'll get you going) must be worth a tenner max, yet he gets thousands.

Bardo's salary will be mental, but it's not out concern.

Personally i really couldn't give a flying **** what he earns, the club will decide what they think he is worth and how much they want to offer for his services. I only hope they offer him what he is happy with so that he stays with us, i think he has a future and has the right mentality to be a Sunderland player. We have far worse players who are probably on similar, or better wages, who offer very little to the club. It's those i would like to see either sold, take a pay cut or in some cases given away.
