well yes, birmingham fans have rarely had teams to pull on the heart strings, but hughton is leaving a lasting impression on their fans (assuming he agrees to move). not bad in one year. i'm still to find a single newcastle fan who has even an indifferent word to say about him. face it guru, you're jealous of our new manager, aren't you... <laugh>

no not jealous, nothing would give me greater pleasure to see you lot fail obviously. I just can't understand how suddenly, and in your own words 'Hughton has no major flaws'. tbh there are only i few select managers that can claim this, and then even they could struggle at a club for unknown reasons. I just feel that Hughton still has a lot to prove in the game, and not the whole package and only choice. certain not worth paying 2.5 million for.

Pardew is a great example of soemthing unexplained just clicking to make things all ok, who would have guessed what he would have done at newcastle!

you're taking what i said out of context though.

i'm not comparing him to the world great managers. of the candidates, hughton was the only one with no major flaws. and you do realise we aren't expecting to just get hughton for £2.5m? if it goes through we also get his assistant colin calderwood, a relatively successful manager in his own right (although holty may disagree), paul trollope who i heard was a possible for an england coaching job with roy hodgson, dave watson who is the current england gk coach and possibly, though still not confirmed, but claimed by midland's journalists, we will get our former scout ewan chester back too. so not a bad price... we wouldn't shirk that price for a good player so why not a good manager and his team?

interesting you talk of pardew. the newcastle fans all claim that without hughton's ground work pardew wouldn't have stood a chance. a few even indicate that they would have done even better had hughton stayed - we'll never know.

Lambert knows Grant Holt's worth - "It's good to see he is spelling a bit better. I have identified some players I want to bring to the club and he hasn't crossed my mind." <laugh>

Rodgers will do ok in time, its just a question on whether the liverpool fans and owners will stick with him long enough. But he plays the right sort of football to bring success at the highest level.

Lambert is a funny one, to me Lambert was more impressive than rodgers, so it seems weird that he goes to villa while rodgers goes to liverpool! lambert will do ok, i reckon 1st season he will get them in the top 10 then perhaps europe the following season. the thing with Lambert is that he is damaged goods now, everyone will be expecting him to do a runner when things don't go his way. What big club is going to have that hanging over them?
