as i say, i like olly. i think he's a good manager but he's got major flaws. hughton doesn't have major flaws. do we want a circus surrounding the club, cos that's what we'd get with holloway. surely we've learnt that we are better off going under the radar a little. yes he's extremely positive in his approach, but it didn't actually work in the top flight - they still got relegated. lambert took elements of blackpool's play the year before and enhanced it. maybe olly would be able to do that now but i'm not so sure. watching great football isn't solely reliant on the manager - you've got to have the players in place to do it. thankfully we already have some exciting players but we also have to find someone who can help shore us up at the back a bit - it was our achilles heel so appointing holloway would appear a backwards step seeing as its his too. with hughton it feels a bit like stuff just carries on as normal, and as we are heading into our 2nd season i'd say that's important to have a safe pair of hands rather than a loose canon.
I hope you are right.Hughton feels like the right appointment with nobody having a bad word to say about him.In six months time if we are not in the bottom three then we will know it was right. On the plus side whatever happens next season we will finish higher than Ipswich.
its a tough division next year, harder than the past season i believe. we just need to stay up, doesn't matter how we do it, that's the aim. 17th - i'd take it right now. if we stay up again it'll be massive. the debt will be gone, we'll be guaranteed more premier league money again and the ground capacity can be increased. forget trying to better last season - even though it would be amazing - lets just get safe first
Completely agree with that, we need not get carried away. In hindsight not Lambert has gone does anyone else think a fresh start will help. I find the second season syndrome a bit of a myth but in this position I am slightly wary of it. I feel a fresh start with a new manager will have a positive effect and if we pick early points up that'll be great.
I agree 2nd season syndrome is a myth but at least players won't get complacent (doubt they would anyway) and will know they must impress the new manager.
Our expectation is to be a Premier League team for a few years to come. What's yours? To manage to pay the rent on your ground on time?
guru, on the off-chance you read this, here's what a birmingham fan wrote about hughton earlier today... "Chris brought a fresh bout of optimism to the club. Here was a gentle, honest man who was greatly respected within the game. After a few teething troubles while he settled in and merged a side of no-hopers into one of the most exciting teams we have ever had the pleasure of supporting, he led us on to things far exceeding our wildest expectations. If, as seems likely, we lose do Chris Hughton, then I will wish him well in his new job and will be forever grateful for the work he did in the short time he was with us but, like many others on here, I have supported Blues for many, many years and I will continue to do so." hmm, negative yeah?
I notice you didn't highlight the negative start to that post, is the premier league the place to have a few 'teething trouble' and are some of your supporters the type that will give the manager a chance? after all these fans didn't give morison a lot of support and am i right in thinking some even gave holt some **** last year? hardly the understanding bunch are they!
lets put it like this supers, i don't think the council would have made this backdated rent bullshit up, if we didn't have a multi millionaire owner. if you catch my drift!
i think you'll find all managers have a few teething problems. they were hardly setting the world alight before he joined and he had to deal with a tiny squad where they'd lost all their best players! not going to have that problem with norwich, is he. also, it wasn't relevant to the post - you claimed birmingham were negative to watch - their fans claim otherwise. i'm also intrigued because you must have been looking at articles about hughton to have known where i got it from. not that you're bothered about us of course...
no, i'm just saying it wasn't of greater importance before we had ME, yet after he joined it suddenly become top of the agenda. and that as mikey would say is FACT!
