He was tonight for the 45mins he played but I think Onien will get the nod next Saturday. Saying that I don't think he has picked the same player to be captain in the pre season games. Dan Neil, Onien, Mcgeady, gooch, Flannigan had it tonight for a bit as wellEvans?…
I just think if it was to be O’Nien then he’d of had the armband tonight. Flanagan when Evans went off too? I suppose we’ll soon find out.He was tonight for the 45mins he played but I think Onien will get the nod next Saturday. I hope that is the case, tbh. Would be great to sign a leader and him coming in knowing he’d be skipper. Lots of options mind.Coming round to the idea of Evans
he represents a fresh start whilst also being experienced.
Wouldn’t mind it being O’Nien either
still think there’s a chance it’ll be somebody new and that’s why it’s been passed around in preseason
I've always thought that a leader is a leader regardless of whether they have a bit of fabric round their arm. In the days of squad rotation, the role of captain seems less important than it was. I'd give it to McGeady as the most senior player, with someone like O'Nien or Evans as vice captain for when Geeds doesn't playHow much impact do people think it has? I suppose it's an honour to be chosen, but I always think it should come from within the group, they know who the real leaders are imo.
Listening to ex-footballers on podcasts it sounds like a lot more off the pitch duties than on so it needs to be somebody respected. I feel like McGeady fits the bill.
