I think that area used to be known as Deptford when I was a kid. My mum was from around there, born before the war.
Aye, but nowt at deptford, so its basically pallion. Ive just drove past it, bout time the ****ing roadwork were gone. Its looking canny like.
Just watched a video about the bridge earlier, after the thread was posted. I had no idea the damn thing was so tall. Looks impressive. Looking forward to seeing some regeneration going on back home.
Just seen the 3 shortlisted names in the Echo. The prism. Lumen point. The northern spire. I think they are all ****e.
Is it finished yet then? Still roadworks all over Wessington Way & Riverside Road. I agree like them names are ****.
How about a name which has some sort of link to Sunderland without being obvious. HMS Ocean, our adopted ship. Ocean bridge. Short Sunderland flying boat, coastal aircraft and submarine hunter. Short bridge. Our heritage, Coal bridge. Glass bridge. The area, Deptford bridge, Pallion bridge. Brexit bridge. The 3 shortlisted names seem pretentious and the sort of name posh twats would come up with. I’d let somebody like Billy name it. ‘The fat slag ****er offer bridge’ for example.
Northern Spire best of the options. I even prefer a mix of two of the suggestions; Lumen Spire. Or the Wear Spire
Definitely not the 'Short Bridge'... haway, man the three shortlisted are ****ing ****e, like. who the **** picks these names.
I see what you mean about the Short bridge (Ellis) I just meant a name where people would ask “why is it called that” (Ocean for example) and we would know. How about The Mackem Bridge.
Lumen Point. I like Lumen and get the idea but its not a point its a bridge. Likewise it's not a spire. And Prism? **** that! That's just daft. The New Alexandra Bridge would have been fine by me. But I don't live up there anymore so **** all to do with me.
I think Brexit Bridge is a great idea if it’s existence is going to put manufacturing back into pallion
