Last January he looked good on his return from injury, but it seems it was a false dawn and this January he looks terrible.

I'm also not so sure you're bidding anything for him, it was a story in The Sunday People that hasn't been repeated elsewhere.

Thanks for clarifying - must admit I was a bit confused as I hadn't read anywhere that we were bidding for him even ... not reading too much into it as I think we are covered now up front and in wide positions and I'd much rather see us putting our efforts into buying Alex Baptiste from Blackpool (who has really impressed me this term) or Liam Trotter from Millwall, who is the one type of midfielder we still haven't got ..

To be fair I think a lot of blame has to lie with Burnley.

I think his confidence is shot now which is a shame becuase when he is confident then he's a cracking player but with getting next to no playing time at burnley he must feel like crap.

I just dont see where Stewart would fit in. I think had we needed a player in that position and for the price he's rumoured to be going for then I think Stewart would be near the top of Nigel's list.

You would probably be best loaning him to a league 1 club for about 2 months. Let him get his confidence back and then you will have him back for the run in

As Stewart has played for us and Burnley I think we can only send him out on an emergency loan basis?

Would playing for Wolves meet that criteria?

The only way it could be done is to agree a deal for a permanent in the summer, but actually do the deal in Feb, so that he could come to you on emergency loan for 93 days until the permanent could go through.

This is another reason why I think it's unlikely that there's anything in this story.

He could if we sent him to you on an emergency loan. I think if you bought him he couldn't play for you, which is why I think the rumour of a £300k bid is bollocks
