To be literal about it they will be neither. They are the team that won the games they played in an international tournament and brought home the trophy. "THE BEST" is a purely subjective point of view. First not all teams are there. There are several club sides who woyld piss through this comp. Second it's a knock out comp not a league so it's a whole other dynamic... like city were clearly best side in England but they won only the league and league cup and lost in fa cup. Dies that fa cup make Chelsea better than 5th in league? Just my opinion. France or Croatia will win a knock out comp. France had by far the tougher opponents.

Obviously I meant national team not club side as only national teams can go for the world cup. Messi and Ronaldo arguments just muddy the waters. Again ... obviously .... the best players don't always [or ever, necessarily] win the world cup as it's about 'teams' not individuals. If a team meets all the challenges it faces in accordance with how the competition is set up, why can't the team that wins be called the best in the world that year?
cos it may well not actually be the best. they may actually just be the biggest cheats. see Italy cheating zidane. in 2014 Germany were by far the best side fair enough. this year frankly Croatia are there by grinding. if they won it give modric player of tournament but.... well..
France are probably the best team atm, regardless of them winning it or not. England, yes we got to the semis, but we are probably at the tail end of the top 10 still
I'm wiling to bet this England side will struggle to get out of euros group phase. in the old format where 3rd place teams didn't qualify for a play off the euros were tougher than world cup Qatar as well..will be a real struggle imo. that's the reality of now or never chances imo
I'd still argue for Germany. Yes they've ****ed up and probably there is abit of complacency with some of the older players, but as a Squad I'd say they're still one of the best.
tbh France going in would have been one of top 3 favourites. based on talent in squad. but they didnt look a real team til they went and ground out belgium result.
That's why Klopp catches so much love. Would have been great if Arsenal got him but I think he's ended up at the right club.
