From Sky Sports; "A majority of clubs in the bottom half of the Premier League want relegation to be scrapped if and when the season restarts. All 20 clubs want to finish the season but most clubs in the bottom half of the table believe it will be unfair if any clubs are relegated when the final 92 games are likely to be played behind closed doors at neutral grounds." What a load of ****ing bollocks. Play games with no consequence, because it means greedy bastard owners don't forfeit as much Sky money? Great plan. So much for ****ing "integrity". You know what ****ing sickens me about this? If football hadn't been allowed to get so pathetically out of hand, in terms of finances, by yellow-bellied football associations and regulatory bodies, it would be considerably easier to come to the right and logical conclusion.
Richard Masters, the BoJo of football, had this to say: A 'Masters'class in how to say things, without actually saying anything at all. Best bit? "Clearly, we have plans". Get to **** - you clearly have no ****ing idea what you're doing.
Did Newcastle,Arsenal,Spurs and Chelsea vote against neutral grounds? So not just relegation threatened clubs then bar us.
The integrity of any sporting competition has a few dimensions obviously - but two of the key ones in football in my opinion would be A. Authenticity of the competition B. Conduct of those taking part. The second bit is probably where the PL falls foul daily, and probably why are fans think this whole examination of our takeover is a bit of a joke given those already operating as owners. The first bit is the bit which is clearly being compromised by this proposal. You set up the rules, numbers of teams, parameters etc etc. Everyone signs up to those and once the competition begins, everybody abides by what has been agreed so the competition has competitive integrity. The only way the integrity of the league would not have been compromised if they'd built something into the rules for this kind of circumstance. That would have been difficult to predict, but I'm sure they will learn from this like many trying to run fair sporting competitions. Its not the case here, so what you have to ask, not enforce, the clubs to forego the parameters. If everyone agrees to an amendment, the league can continue and you'd say the integrity problem has been overcome because clubs are willingly participating. If you cannot get agreement then you need to look at another solution because those not agreeing would probably wipe the floor in court because its pretty obvious the competitions integrity is compromised. I think the word compromised is important. It has not been compromised maliciously, but rather by unforeseen circumstances. You can't change the rules on clubs part way through in my opinion and just expect them to go along with it for the sake of completing the competition. The long term impact of such an amendment could have far reaching consequences for years to come. I do actually agree that its self preservation on the part of clubs. But justified self preservation. If you have a great home record then you aren't going to be happy. If you have a smaller squad (risk of injury will be higher), you are also going to be disadvantaged, you built a squad for a normal PL season afterall. There are so many aspects of competitive integrity being compromised by the whole COVID solution situation. Its nobodies fault but we can't just pretend goalposts are not being moved. We have to careful too. It is very very important the integrity of the competition is maintained. I've already seen it compromised badly since the inception of the PL in 1992. In truth its always been a difficult thing to maintain because its rarely a level playing field which is what you should be looking to achieve in any sporting competition. May the best player/side win is supposed to be the thing. Except it isn't, its let the club with the most money win. Its one reason why I'm massively in favour of some kind of draft situation to level it out. Well I was until we were about to become the richest club I agree its one of the fairest solutions by the way, I just don't agree you can impose it. I also think any legal challenge will be successful so its pointless just ploughing on with it.
Wow, definitely took you a while to think that up. Can’t really remember what I was responding to and definitely can’t be bottomed to look back but I think I would have had more respect for those objecting if they hadn’t claimed “integrity of the game” but at the same time then agreeing if no relegation involved.
Look two posts in one day. I'm prolific. Its in our nature to protect our own interests and those associated with us (in this case the fans). I don't see the problem. Integrity of the competition will be compromised if the proposal went ahead and that in turn is directly affecting the clubs most at risk. How many clubs have escaped relegation over the years due to some stellar home form towards a seasons end? Probably quite a few. I'm of the opinion people should be back to work now anyway unless they have an underlying health issue or are over 50. So I think they should just crack on and finish the season. The risk is minimal Are ze Germans playing at neutral grounds? If not then its not comparable.
