yeah i must admit at times it was a bit John Wick, and you wondered how one guy with a handgun could take out 15 guys with Machine guns , while they all missed, haha, but i enjoyed it.
This City is Ours Just watched on iplayer. 8 episodes, crime drama set in Liverpool. I enjoyed it, probably would have liked a slightly different ending. Worth a watch.
I'm sure people will roll their eyes but Andor, if treated as an independent Sci Fi show about capitalism and tyranny, rather than a Star Wars show, is truly terrific. The cinematography, writing and performances are fantastic. There's no lightsabers or Jedi or anything, just a grounded, gritty show.
A few things I watched recently... Muted, a Spanish phycological thriller on Netflix. A bloke is released from prison, where he been banged up for murdering his parents. In addition to being tagged, his apartment had been covered in cameras to monitor him and the story is mainly about the physiatrist in the building opposite who's obsessed with him. It was okay, nothing special, I was quite happy when it came to an end to be honest. Black Work, a crime drama on Netflix. This one's actually ten years old and stars Sheridan Smith as a PC whose husband, an undercover copper, gets murdered. I missed this when it was on normal telly, it was pretty good, Sheridan Smith has gone downhill since this was made. Just finished the first series of Gangs of London, it's a bit daft, is the second series any better?
You know you get these series that are brilliant then they drop them and don’t make a 2nd series for no reason, then you get the series that are ok to a degree and they keep stretching them out with more series and it’s the same **** every series well this is the 2nd option.
ive noticed, im personally so bored of media to do with drugs and crime etc, half the tv shows seem to be related to it this last week, everyones hyped for gta 6, the whole theme is just boring and unoriginal to me
Yeah I must say shows about criminals don't tend to grip me. Sopranos was good because of the humour and the therapist scenes, but the mindless violent plots were lost a bit on me. Similar with The Wire. I got it, it was fine, but it wasn't mind blowing TV for me.
Your point about andor is very good I wonder how many people are put off seeing the 'star wars' part Becasue i think thats where the future of star wars should go The nitty gritty, dystopian side, the extended universe/lore is so good and much much more than the silly lightsabers etc(i still love the films)
I don't mind them but again it's the storyline and humour that got me in, I glazed over a bit with the various different criminal enemies. It was more the bizarro elements that worked so well. It's why I think Gilligan excelled on a show like the X-Files.
Breaking bad was fantastic Theres a reason its one of the highest rated shows and its iconic Its crazy to me that season 1 came out in 2008 That or its crazy to me 2008 is 17 years ago.. What the actual ****
I think, similar to Andor, where it works so well is its character study of the human condition, which is what I loved about it. The Mexican cartel and other antagonists didn't do a whole lot for me other than Esposito's character. Watching Walt's descent into madness was far more fascinating.
Enjoyed (probably not the right word here) A Deadly American Marriage Netflix https://www.imdb.com/title/tt36592065/ Love some true crime, never heard of the case. But interestering perspectives and twists Spoiler: Not really a spoiler, just my opinion Molly, absolute scum Could sense the fake persona through the screen Proper sociopath (psychopath?)
Just watched a film I’d never heard of called Birdbox , it was decent enough , apolyptic thing. My main take away from it was I always forget how gorgeous Sandra Bullock is - mid fifties in this and still looking good!
The Sopranos is the best drama series of all time. Breaking bad right up there too. They both have you rooting for the main protagonist for most the series. Then gradually you realise they go beyond just some questionable practices. They're actually despicable narcissists.
