Stumbled across some of the old Arena programmes on BBC iPlayer. Very different time (and aspect ratio) but pleasant viewing. I started with the one on Two Tone records and just let it roll. Chelsea Hotel episode is mad, and the Edward Hopper one was good I think but so much slower than modern programmes you needed to properly relax into it
Thanks I’ll watch the Hopper one first One of my favourite artists I won’t have to justify why to you will I den??
Mussolini: Son of the Century on Sky, a lavish series on the revolutionary early days of Italian fascism and Mussolini's rise to power.
I like hoppers work, what you see is what you get. You don't have to get into the artists head, interpret the subtle hidden message, revel in the abstract forms, although I'm sure many will try. It's a picture.
I'm half way through, it's the early 1920's before fascism was copied around Europe, peaky blinders era & style on a larger scale. Luca Marinelli plays Mussolini brilliantly, talks to camera and constantly shags.
Correct version should be, only if I say it's crap, but can't/won't say why. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Haven’t seen that but will give it a go, talking of Mussolini I did love the film “ tea with Mussolini “ Judy dench and maggie smith were simply different level…
Really enjoyed Becoming Led Zeppelin (cinema). Like a documentary narrated by the 3 remaining members using footage from late 60's as they were forming and breaking through. Brilliant musicians and ground breakers. Their story was not how I was expecting it to be. I was too young to fully appreciate them at the time. Loved hearing stuff I haven't listened to for decades.
There's a new series of White Lotus out, and unsurprisingly it's had decent reviews. Looking forward to that one.
Never seen it but my Mrs absolutely loved it, one reason I didn’t watch, normally her tips are absolutely dog poo. She loves those awful yank tv movies
Went to pics to see the Led Zep documentary Underwhelming Interesting and very technical Especially Jimmy Page and JPJ But the doc stops in 1970!!
