NP, each to our own. I really enjoyed it, thought it was clever, well written and well acted. All these things are a bit far fetched at times; the only bit that was hard to accept for me was that Michelle Keegan was tough, but for some reason she's getting typed cast in those sort of combat roles! But I can easily forgive that . Also liked that it came to a clear (unexpected) end, rather than leave you hanging for the next season.
I didn't say what the ending was, just that it was a bit of a twist (unexpected), or at least I didn't see it coming!
I hope the forfeiture committee removes the honour. All very well saying sorry and you can have this back, but stripped of it would be more meaningful.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/having-...eiture#can-an-honour-be-forfeited-voluntarily "An honour can only be forfeited by the decision of His Majesty. However, an individual may decide to renounce their honour voluntarily and take the practical steps required of those that have forfeited. They would still hold the honour unless or until HM King annulled it. Their decision would not be publicised by the Cabinet Office and they would continue to be able to describe themself as holding an honour." Handing it back seemingly not the same as being stripped of it.
Finally watched “ saving Mr Banks “ tonight, what a brilliant film, Tom hanks and Emma Thompson are absolutely brilliant in it. These two are just fantastic actors, top draw, some of the dross you get in movies these days is quite frankly embarrassing when compared to these.
Just started the post office fiasco, 2 episodes in, 2 to go. I’m not sure which I’m more… angry or flabbergasted, what a bunch of ****ing criminals our post office are, don’t think I’ll ever look at one the same way again. The part where they took jo to court after knowing she had not stolen anything is beyond disgusting. 2 questions I’d want answering. 1/ what was actually wrong with the ****ing computer and where the **** has all the money they stole from the sub postmasters gone. A CBE ? that bitch should be in ****ing jail, along with a fair few other post office staff…. “ Justice is blind “ your not kidding there !!!!
To be fair Suranne Jones would have probably played the part much better. **** the story line Red, I just like to ogle at Michelle Keegan
Your first question never gets answered, in fact it seems to me it was never investigated in the context of the this later investigation. A contract to provide software will often have a clause that says the supplier will endeavour to fix bugs but will not be responsible for any consequential data loss or corruption. Your second question gets answered in a later episode, keep watching!
The money the Post Office wrongly took off all the sub-postmasters was actually a piss in the ocean against the money they spent on lawyers to secure the convictions and defend themselves against the claims (subsequently proven) made against them. They've used a total of fifty different law firms and various barristers, they've so far set aside over £150m and having now run out of money, the government are underwriting further losses to keep them in business.
When I was a sub postmaster in the early 90,s we used to use ledgers for daily and weekly accounting. End of day and End of week on a Friday. All hand written. At any given time you could turn up for work and find the auditors outside the entrance. In my case nice guys you could chat to. You just left them to it safe that you knew it was all your own work. Step forward technology and it appears for many it has fallen to pieces and genuinely ruined their lives. Some narcissist bastards need kicking off their perches and soon.
