“Why us? Because we’re here lad”

kind of sums up supporting City in the bad old days.

I decided to watch the Big George Foreman film yesterday, it’s an okay film, not brilliant, not rubbish, but I was really chuffed to spot Forest Whitaker in one of my jackets (and one of my fine gauge knits)…

Yea I know mate 2011 he died on this date, I just thought he deserved to be remembered.

While i'm here, just watched Sir David's latest. Highly recommend it, of course it's good, it's Attenborough.

Mr Bates vs The Post Office

When this story first broke, I was amazed that nobody thought it was odd, that all of a sudden, hundreds of people who had kept meticulous manual accounts were now seemingly having it away with thousands of pounds. I now have the answers.
The good guys are exonerated, but financially ruined. The liars, deniers and blame it someone else cast carry on with their lives. A long overdue investigation by the police should be set up. Not forgetting the ongoing parliamentary enquiry. The sole shareholder, the British government, investigating the very company they own? Twenty years and counting, this still has along way to go.

As an ex postmaster from a family who had a post office for 50 years it saddens and sickens me. I got out in 1996 after our 2nd armed robbery in 3 years. At the time they were announcing “ Horizon “ as the future. As it turns out the future for some was heartbreaking. Hunt those responsible down and jail them.

The one thing that came through most of all to me was the desire for the truth. They had all lost money, homes, yet the one thing they wanted returned to them most of all was their good name. Each and every one of them had to live in community subjected a campaign ranging from whispers to outright hostility and abuse. This programme has put those at the top very much in the public eye. I wouldn't want to be Paula Vennels walking down the street. Start at the top. Strip her of the CBE and a police prosecution.

Funny you should ask that. A quick google brings up Angela van den Bogerd. At the post office for over thirty years, "left quietly in 2020". Lied to the commons select committeem but changed her tune in a court of law. Was employed by the Welsh FA as head of people, and shown the door soon after. Another who has had their profile raised by the programme.

Mr Justice Fraser summed up the denials of bugs and faults within the system, "‘amount to the 21st century equivalent of maintaining that the earth is flat."

Correct. Fingers pointed at you for doing nothing but be a good person with a small business under the smear of theft( and of course the media made it stealing from pensioners). Most sub postmasters at the time where over 50 and had been using ledgers all their life.

Pretty soon, been looking forward to it and with all this positive comments I thought it would be a good un. Last cpl of nights I watched “ Vigil “
Never been a fan of miss jones but in this she was quite good. There’s a second series I’ll start after the darts tonight. New series of “ Vera “ back Sunday night, absolutely love this, for me the best detective series around but it’s just my opinion so please don’t shoot the messenger…
