Found an old series on tv X called “ Blue murder “ Caroline Quentin stars is the lead character. Now I’ll be honest I’ve never really liked her, not my favourite on the telly but in this she is brilliant. 5 series of 3/4 episodes, each about an hour and a half long and to a finish and not 5/6 long where you wait a lifetime to find out the killer…
You reminded me of similar in our student digs. To celebrate the end of term, half a dozen of us rented a video player for the weekend and hired Life of Brian and The Holy Grail. Watching a video was such a novelty, we kept out of the pub all weekend and just watched and rewatched these, fuelled by a lot of illegal substances. As you say, I’ve watched these since and still found them funny.
Watched Season 1 and now watching season 2 of Winning Time, all about the rise of the LA Lakers in the 80s. Not sure what channel it’s on in the uk but well worth a watch. Great insight into trading players and egos of players and staff all round!
Watched a repeat of a programme about the making of my favourite film The Third Man. Some interesting insights into how a classic came about and the differences that went on. Think it was repeated as a tribute to Derek Malcolm the film critic who passed away in July and looked very frail in it,
Never been interested in her work, but her attitude to working in our city was pleasing. Didn't find the play particularly funny but felt good at that time/place.
Yeah she was very complimentary about Hull when here, which I know is to be expected but seemed genuine. I saw her a few times round the City centre too. I enjoyed the play, but as you say that might have been a time and place thing
Watched all of this over the weekend. I thought it was good and original. Good ending but it left the door open for a series 2, which'd be a shame imo, some things should just end at their highest point. It's had mixed reviews, a lot of people saying they couldn't understand what was going on, after 15 minutes!
On sky arts now freeview but it's half way through already Mick Fleetwood and friends tribute to Pete Green. Music is ok but it does show what a crap host Mick is.
