Just been watching the interview Micheal Parkinson did with Billy conelly back in the 1990s Soo ****ing funny but at the end there was a Hull connection. He was on stage in Hull when he found out John Lennon had been shot…
I've just found myself watching the Life of Brian again, mainly because it is a very funny film, but increasingly because the way things are going in this world it will either be banned or tampered with to suit this crazy narrative which seems to be taking hold these days.
Many many years ago I worked on a cruise ship and one of the lads had it on tape, a cabin full of teenagers, absolutely out our heads on pot, literally pissing ourselves laughing. One of the best nights of my life. It wasn’t until a few years later I actually saw the movie, pissed my pants all over again lol, one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen. A close second is the Holly grail….they should never **** with perfect but I know exactly what you mean….
Heard Stuart Macaronie on r2 the other night talking about it Must be worth a watch Northern Soul at the Proms 7.45pm, BBC Two There’s a waft of talcum powder through the Royal Albert Hall as Andi Oliver introduces the BBC Concert Orchestra interpreting northern soul classics, curated by Stuart Maconie and Joe Duddell. The show will feature singers including Vula Malinga, Frida Touray and Natalie Palmer. PH Just to start a row My favourite NS song is Nine Times out of Ten by Muriel Day
I love a bit of northern soul, so definitely will give this a watch. And yep, Nine Times out of Ten is definitely one of my favourites.
The 2014 film Northern Soul was on again last week on Film4, set in Lancashire in 74, enjoyed rewatching it.
I thought this was fantastic. The orchestra and singers were amazing. Some absolute classics. I even showed my missus some of my fancy footwork. Memories of Wyke youth club 1979.
You'll love the film Northern Soul then, captures all those Northern Soul youth club discos very well. KTF.
A mate recommended a series called Mr Inbetween, it's a brilliant Aussie black comedy about a guy who works door security and debt collecting - the guy has a great set of morals and is really quite likeable, couple of crazy mates too; it's brilliantly written and has some great story lines that run through the three seasons that it runs for. They're only short episodes and I whizzed through them all in a week - watch one and you're hooked!
The Following Events Are Based on a Pack of Lies BBC drama on Iplayer, watched the first of 5 episodes, looks promising.
