Just watching an old series called “ above suspicion “ it’s very good Has the look of the sweeney for those of a certain age lol
Just watched a brilliant movie, staring Peter Mullan and Brenda Blethyn, cracking actors called “On a clear day “ from 2005. This is my kind of movie….
A US series called 'Barry' is really enjoyable at the minute. I've never known a TV programme to be quite so adept at weaving between black comedy and drama, with hugely well-rounded characters and a fiendishly clever plot. Remarkable viewing.
Apologies if it has already been mentioned but I really enjoyed Black Bird. It’s on Apple or a dodgy firestick (apparently) and based in a prison.
Sunday July 23rd 2023. (Episodes 1 & 2) BBC4 have just started rebroadcasting the 13 part TV documentary "The Ascent of Man", based on the book of essays by the late philosopher-scientist Jacob Bronowski. All 49 minute episodes available on BBC iPlayer for the next 11 months. Highly recommended vintage viewing.
Watched "Quadrophenia" (released in '79) again on telly the other night and was surprised to see Timothy Spall and Phil Davis had parts therein. Both have done some excellent work since then of course. "Auf Wiedersehen Pet" and "Silk" respectively come to mind.
Phil Davis was excellent in Silk, and has been in pretty much everything he's appeared in. Always been surprised we haven't seen him in more stuff.
Secret Invasion with Sam Jackson turned into six episodes of not a lot. Rushed and, like most things Marvel these days, never really went anywhere. Olivia Coleman is in though and she was brilliant!
Last night’s episode of hijack didn’t disappoint, just 1 episode left, me thinks there definitely will be a second series, there would be too much to cram in 40mins next Wednesday…..
I'll be darned - I never knew the fact he had been a lecturer at Hull Universtity ! Thanks for pointing it out. I do recall listening to him when he was on the Beeb's program "The Brains Trust" though. How exactly does the plague manifest itself? Tourist bombardment? Or an AI generated misquote of a sentence from Romeo & Juliet? "A plaque on both your houses" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-20114724
