Watched ID2 Shadwell army on Netflix. Made 2006. A lot of it filmed in Hull. Had to laugh when they go to Amsterdam and the red light district is Hulls old town.
The one who played Shadwell used to go in Kingston after shooting. Had a word with him a few times, really nice bloke.
The majority of those straight to dvd British gangster/football hooligan films made in the 2000s were a tax scam exploiting an investment loophole created by the government at the time ... As a result, the budget for filming, script and the actors was not so large, as the films were intended to lose money. Not sure if the UK treasury get the residuals from the sale of it to Netflix?
A still from ID2 filmed outside Head of Steam, a couple of City's top boys in there as extras, JL & MC.
Just reflecting on how good this film was We’d both had a drink and both stayed awake for the whole thing! Unprecedented!
