Just watched Black Mass on Netflix. The Boston Irish Mob are one seriously scary crew...funny thing is, looks like everyone on either side of the law is Irish American. Depp portrays psychopath Bulger really well.
Watched The Last Bus this afternoon, Timothy Spall as an old man trying to get from John o’Groats to Lands End, using only a bus pass. Very British, a bit of a tearjerker and he’s brilliant as always. it’s on new releases on Sky Cinema.
Watched Jimmy Carr new special , standard stuff but particularly enjoyed the 5 minutes at the end he titled , here come the career Enders
Watched 'Don't Look Up' last night on Netflix. Quite funny and if you're staying in tonight it's a better option than watching Jools Holland, mind you going to bed's a better option than watching Jools Holland...
Watched 45 with Tom Courtney on Netflix. Great acting as usual and a lovely shot of his 'Hull City, The Tigers', tea mug on his kitchen table in one of the scenes. He is seen lovingly cleaning it at the kitchen sink in another. Good viewing too compared to some of the ****e over Christmas on other channels. Also on Netfix, the Great Train Robbery bounces along nicely. Over 2 parts, worth watching if only for the way they capture the feel of the early1960's Britain so well. Still think today that the sentences handed out were too harsh.
Staring at wet paint waiting for it to dry is a better option than jools Holland second most annoying voice after the radio Humberside toad….
I watched that last night as well, I thought it was a bit mediocre and went on too long, though it was quite funny that faced with a 98.7% certainty of an event that would wipe out humanity, 30% of Americas still thought it was a government conspiracy and ignored it.
Jools Holland would be hugely improved by stopping inviting Vic Reeves. I’ve never found him remotely funny, and he just grates on me.
Watched it last year (?), first time for a while, and it all looked so stale. No-one, especially Jules himself, looked as though they wanted to be there. Well past its sell by date imo.
It went downhill when he decided he should sing He can’t sing He’s had some great artists on over the years but it’s lazy now and as den said vic reeves is ****e Roland rivron usually gets wheeled out as well **** knows what he’s ever done
It's a 21st century thing a version of what was on last century every year the same. Not wording this well, in the 60's 70's 80's and so on was a hogmany show with some bloke Stewart(?) every year the same format. Now he's died I suppose and Jools Holland has taken the slot, he will be on till his end. Andy Stewart was the blokes name.
Still shudder at the memory of Andy Stewart being inflicted on us. Even worse in the days when people only had one TV and dad was in charge of what was on.It was a great day when I was old enough to be out on New Year's Eve and miss it. Remember the White Heather Club? Cringe... To let younger people experience the horror of it here is a video. And to think some people moan about Jools Holland.
