That's not neccassarily true. SB seems to like to use Bruce to blunt the other team and give us enough time to establish a level of control, then he is often substituted to let a more potent player on. To hold injuries leading to substitutions against any player is just malicious and I don't think that criticism has been aimed at anyone else. Why?... You tell me.
I beg to differ http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2007-2008/table/2008-04-15
1) I meant at this stage of the season.. I should have clarified. 2) How is that better? It's both 2nd. 3) We're 1 point clear of 3rd now, so if anything we ARE in a better position. But other than that, good point well made....
It wasn't really in response to your post directly, but to the general suggestion that being substituted (accepting that Bruce has gone off injured several times) is somehow a slur against a player when it's often a tactical decision by the manager.
It really isn't, you're being deliberately awkward to try and prevent you looking a twerp for making a ridiculous point about one of the top five seasons we have had in our entire history.
Few of us expected Bruce to pull up any trees this year, but as I said earlier he's benefited from the extremely poor standard of the league this season. Any other year we'd have been hoping for sixth at best His loan signings have been decent, but most of the players he's brought in permanently have been poor value for money
Point 1 - You can only beat what's in front if you. This statement is as ridiculous as when people said we only stayed in the Prem cos Newcastle were worse Point 2 - oh my word. Amazing. Other than Prozzer, who has been 'poor value for money'? I assume you mean Aluko, Quinn, Faye, Bruce, Elmo, Boyd and Gedo? Edit - just noticed you stipulated perms. Ok then, I assume you mean Quinn, Aluko, Faye and Bruce?
How is it "taking the piss" to continue to criticise the playing of a key player? Seems to me like a massive backtrack is underway.
Quinn and Aluko - definitely not Faye - no, and I wish he'd played more often Bruce - without doubt one of the worst players I've ever seen. How so many people fail to see how **** he is I just don't know. He came on a free and I still think he's abysmal value for money I was talking more about the players signed for big money - Brady, Meyler and Proschwitz. The first two aren't bad players, but at £4m for the two I think we've made a boob. As for Ze German...
