I noticed several times last night, both Brady and Boyd were about to pass, then realised it was Bruce and kicked it straight over his head to Chester. Not seen this happening since we were playing James Harper.
The thing that is starting to concern me regarding Fathi - as well as the obvious fact that he's not getting a look in - is whether his apparent non inclusion at all costs is having a knock on effect on Gedo, this is his close friend after all, and his form does appear to have dipped. Obviously not a good enough reason in itself to give Fathi a start, but as Erendor has said, what is Bruce doing that's so special in training that is seemingly guaranteeing him a place in the starting line up, even to the extent of hammering, or attempting to, an obvious square peg into a round hole, AB will never be a midfielder, of ANY sort, as long as he has a hole in his ****!
I'll tell you what Bruce does so special in training, be steves son. Blind nepotism and the Allams should call them both into a room, stick a p45 on the table and tell them to choose which one ****s off. Hopefully Alex, but I wouldn't mind either way, there are better managers out there (McDermott being one).
I was thinking along the same lines last night at work, when a colleague remarked on it, surely this will be having an impact on all 3 Egyptians. Bruce senior is known for playing his favorites come what may ( or so they say on the Sunderland board anyhow ).
At least you live up to your name, what a load of bullshit. Only City fans would suggest getting rid of the manager when we're sat in second when, at the start of the season, most were expecting 5th/6th at best.
I'm not suggesting we get rid of Bruce as manager, was suggesting Alex be shown the door. I meant it wouldn't be the end of the world if he did go, I think he's vastly over rated in terms of he's tactically inept. But he's a big name and a big personality so he attracts players and gets them playing well, so it kind of evens itself out. There are better managers out there.
7 years been a massive failure at every club he's been at til now. If he was still in this league it would be far more likely a bottom 3 side than a top 3 side.
I wasn't too happy when we appointed Steve Bruce and I was thoroughly pissed off when we signed Alex Bruce, but if you actually review what's happened without being stubborn, he's done a superb job. Other than Proschwitz, Bruce has been the best manager in the transfer market that I can remember at City. Aluko, Quinn, Elmo, Meyler, Boyd, Faye, Brady, Gedo, etc. He's had massive set-backs in Aluko & Fryatt (our top scorers in this and last season, respectively) facing long-term injuries, yet we're still 2nd. I worried Alex Bruce would unsettle the dressing room, almost like Steve's spy, that hasn't happened. Whilst I don't rate him as a player, he was no worse than Boyd or Koren yesterday, I'd say he was better. The only time we actually got in behind their back 3 was a pass from Bruce which Koren then flicked backwards and lost the ball.
I agree he probably wouldn't be at a top side like us, but he wouldn't have spent 7/8 years in the same division if he was as bad as you like to make out. In addition, the only reason we are a top 3 side is because of his old man, yet you'd happily see him gone.
I'd sooner see Nigel Pearson back at the club than that dickhead Matt Lucas lookalike. I agree to some degree about the nepotism thing, perhaps somebody should ask Burnsy to pose the point about other midfielders to SB in an interview. I'd be interested to hear SB's answer.
I think that Steve Bruce would have been more pissed off than you had the question been posed Lambo! I think this is one that Bruce HAS to work out for himself without any media prodding, I'm pretty certain that SB is not dumb enough that he doesn't realise there's a problem, and I don't envisage AB being in the starting eleven that face 'boro
