I'm not up to Northolt's standard, I know - but I'm working on it! The thing is, when it comes to setting threads off, I like a bit of a read before I reply. I just try to give you lot something back sometimes. Anyway - not the only one who can type a page or two am I Roller?!!!
Yours do tend to make more sense than mine do, and yes, I have spotted you correcting my English when you are quoting me back!!
An intelligent and very well written piece Brixton. I agree with every word of it. I'll admit that I was a little unsure when he was first appointed, but Warnock has proved to be an absolute miracle worker, and stands comparison with any of our previous successful managers as far as I'm concerned. I don't know how long we've got him for, but as and when he does depart I fully expect things to quickly go pearshaped, especially if we have the same owners in place. In short, well said Brixton, and here's to Neil!
Love your thread Brixton, Warnock is my ray of light at the moment too. But as we the supporters complain regarding lack of economic support from the board it's important that we remember that NW's job is to manage the team with the hand he's dealt, i for one won't expect anything less from him. Think a Palace fans post on TEAMtalk sums him up: "People will knock warnock's signings, but not everyone knows him well enough, the man squeezes juice out of lemons when no one else could... I hated it when warnock took over palace and admired the man when he left.... My gut says trust Warnock even if they don't let him spend much money... I'd say Warnok is one of the most canny managers I have EVER seen when it comes to signing players" And i've seen supporters of other past Warnock teams saying the same thing. I can't comment on any manager before Don Howe as that is before my time as a QPR supporter, but i just wanted to put my words out re Gerry Francis as he seems quite a popular topic. Don't want to take anything away from his achievements during our last heydays in the Prem, but at the time i think he managed a very underestimated set of players and i believe that Warnock (the Warnock of today (62 years), not the Warnock of old of course) could have got more out of a team of Bardsley, Wilson, Peacock, Sinton, Wilkins and Ferdinand +++ But hey, thats me Pardon my english, i know there's more but's in my posts than in Playboy. Keep up the good work Brixton, on this one we're on the same page
Very enjoyable article Brixton, and it's caused alot of us to comment. In my opinion El Tel was our best manager, tactically was so astute, I just loved the near arrogant swagger his team had when we went up to the top flight the previous time.
Certainly the turnaround of the team once NW was at the helm speaks volumes. He is a great motivator without a doubt and good tactician for the lower divisions. But overall this is rose tinted glasses gone mad! Warnock's success with player aquisition last season was mixed - while Hill, Derry, Smith and Kenny were spot on we must not forget the likes of Hulse, Clarke and Vaagan Moen. And thus far there is no evidence that he has the wherewithal to manage a Premiership team (assuming he gets the resources to actually form a Prem team of course!). To compare him with the greats is premature to say the least. I will happily see him installed on the hall of fame if we survive the coming season but just remember that El Tel was a young man when he put together one of the great QPR teams - Neil will never be able to claim that!
Thanks for all your comments guys - gave me a great read that lot - which made the thread well worth doing! But what's happened to all those 'In Neil we trust' posts we've been seeing for months now?!! The comparisons being made with other great QPR managers has got me thinking though...
