When you come in to a club the playing staff are all 'your players' because they are the clubs players - yes you may want to bring others in of course but it's too simplistic to think that you just move on everyone you haven't signed. A good manager should be able to motivate all but a couple of players. Some on the board keep going on about the 'savings' Nigel will make by getting rid of those on the highest salaries etc - frankly I think that is a bit of a 'red herring'. Our owners are not naiive pensioners handing over their pension books to be emptied. I suspect they would have been more than happy to pay whatever it would have taken to have got the promotion - because they know that their 'brand' being shown to Premier League audiences would more than compensate for their outlay.
