I'll put it in caps to help you decipher it easier: BUILDING BEGINS THIS AUTUMN. I don't suppose you are really interested in why the ground has been delayed, but forward-thinking ambitious clubs who do try to build new stadia tend to meet with various degrees of opposition that slows things down to a snails pace. This isn't anything to do with the club's ambitions - or money - its local politics. Brighton had to wait 15 years for theirs. Fans is an interesting point. There are plenty of fans here, but due to the long time we have spent outside the top tier, combined more recently with the recession, they have chosen to listen to the games on the radio or watch Sky Sports News. Sadly, with the Premiership being so fiercely plugged there are many Bristolians who support one of the 'Big 4', with City (or Rovers) as their 'second team'. This will only change when one of the Bristol clubs break through into the Prem.
i know a bit about the ground issue and the greens not liking that your building on beautiful land.... that could rumble on and on...i know they are talking about going to court ! I wish you luck this season.. and i hope you get the move..i know you have passionate fans..... Have a good season...im sure if you get Kilkenny and you have 4 players who can tackle next to him..he will do a job for you...
"Sadly, with the Premiership being so fiercely plugged there are many Bristolians who support one of the 'Big 4', with City (or Rovers) as their 'second team'. This will only change when one of the Bristol clubs break through into the Prem." So they're not real fans are they? They're more glory hunters if you ask me. What's happened to supporting your side through thick and thin. BCFC as a true fan by the sounds, do you really want these people supporting your club?
That's quite an easy one, have you seen the ticket prices for League 1 and the Championship at ER compared to other teams.
If you do sign him expect to have him unavailable for the majority of the year as he goes back to Austrailia to warm the subs bench for them . He struggles to get into the australian team which just about sums up his ability .
You are right - the land that SL bought is an old landfill site that has since been flattened and grass has grown on top of it. Ashton Vale is a commuter village/town and quite a wealthy area. A few years ago they looked out of their back windows to see JCBs and seagulls picking through acres of trash, since then they have gotten used to seeing fields. Now they don't want to see a stadium. If they challenge though they could end up with a very large bill which will bankrupt them - although as you say its still a possibility. As for 'fickle' fans - again you are right - but to be fair you lot had years and years of sustained presence in the top flight, with some notable successes to boot. We popped into the top flight in 1976 and bowed out only a few years later - we never got a foothold in the top tier. I personally would rather see someone in a Bristol Rovers shirt in town than one of the current Prem sides colours, but you have to win the kids over by giving them success on the pitch. Thanks for the good luck wishes - ditto - but please remember that we DO have ambition
our owner is worth £790million and a lifelong city fan, so don't go thinking we're in trouble. It's not as if we got risdale in charge is it.
Thanks for killkenny I'm sure he is the player we need in the middle to give one of the best strike forces in the division the ammunition to score the goals. You seem very mixed about him on your forums, many rate him, many don't.however your club must rate him as they offered him a new contract.
We offered him a **** deal, because we explained he was surplus and a top wage wouldnt be approved because of the limitations he was going to get.
What a career move for Kilkenny. Should have stayed put on his current wage. Career now in free fall. Probably the work of another idiot agent
Sorry guys we are on the up new ground, benefactor that wants prem football,i think from his interviews he was well impressed.he had a choice of championship sides wanting him.he has joined a club on the up guys.
I year back in the Championship and 'ark at them trying to justify themselves and bigging it up,what a load of plums....
A year where we taught you how to play football in both games. A year where we finished 8 places above you! I know who'd id rather support ya cream pudding
Are we talking about Bristol City here? I suppose they have to be on the up they can't sink much lower.
couple of years in the doldrums of the league and suddenly every club thinks it's bigger than us. It's pathetic, and they call us delusional?
