Meesage from Neil via one of the CYC directors

"Spoke to neil today and he said it was a massive decision, that it tore his heart out to have to make, he hasnt got long left playing and with the health scare he had he wants to just play every week for as long as possible. This wasnt going to happen at wall and he didnt want to sit on the bench taking a salary, OR NOT PLAYING TO HIS POTENTIAL AND STARTING TO GET COATED BY SOME ON THE TERRACE. The club have been great with him and the door will always be open to him to return in some capacity. He loves millwall , he has so many friends who are fans that he has made over the years. Southend have at least six games on a friday this year so he is looking forward to slinging on a pair of jeans and a baseball cap and following the lions on the terraces.

A TRUE LEGEND, PROPER FELLA AND A GREAT MATE"

Thank You Neil for your loyalty to our club, and fantastic support to your teammates . You will be always welcome to stand with the Lions.
I always saw you becoming part of the coaching staff, so you never know, hopefully we might see you in the future.
    Good luck at Southend,<applause>
