A City man to the end. Full marks for admitting he was not up to the job and giving us time to resurrect our season. Back to the youth team next season?
Holy sh*t, with names like Keane, Megson and Ince on the list....I think we should give Adams a bit more time!! http://www.thesackrace.com/teams/norwich-city
I've been pretty quiet on here of late, mostly due to having to actually join the working world and not swan around as a student. I think this move shows just how much Adams thinks of this club, he would rather step down than damage it further and yet he still wants to be involved. You don't see to many resignations these days and I think it's a classy move on his part. Going forwards I think we need fresh blood, I'd keep Phelan as coach as he seems to has added some stability and a level of respect but we need an outsider, personally I'd like to see Uwe Rosler, he had Wigan looking very good last season and turned them around well. As an aside with Bassong returning, a new manager could see him come back in to our defence, this might be very good for us.
Hi bors, it takes guts to admit you are out of your depth and full marks to Neil Adams for personally coming to that conclusion. Nothing wrong with being ambitious, hope he learns the skills of being a football manager and comes back to us in that position in the future. Best course would be to learn with another club in a lower league. First step for MP must be the return of Bassong to our squad, Bennett was physically dispossessed resulting in a goal. That would not have happened with Bassong, he is too physically strong to suffer that fate. A lot will depend on MP getting the respect from the squad, something I think NA didn't get as witness the inexplicable performances of the team this season. Against the top six in this league we have only lost to Middlesbrough, a shambles on the day. Proof we are good enough to compete with the best in this league yet against teams lower in the league we have been abysmal. NA had the courage to take on a difficult task and undoubtedly did his best. The board have indicated that he still has a job at Norwich, so he will not be a loss to the club. He vacates the position with us still in contention for a return to the PL but there will have to be a complete change of attitude from the squad, we cannot afford any more performances like last Saturday. Even amateurs have been known to get one shot on target in 90 minutes !!! They have a golden opportunity to prove they deserve being professional footballers this coming Saturday when they take on the league leaders on their midden, there can be no lack of concentration or effort from now on. O T B C
I am very disappointed it didn't work out, standing in the terraces at Brentford chanting "we've got our norwich back" was one of the best footballing moment I've had in a few years. It's a shame that after that it all seemed to fall down.
I've re-gained a lot of respect for Neyul after this. I personally wouldn't have got rid of him quite yet but for the club as a whole it's good news. Well done to him. As for the next appointment, Phelan is a risk (although not as big of one as Adams) but if you look at the managers who have previously worked under Sir Alex, they've all done pretty well on their own...
The transfer window has just opened, the board should either give the job to MP in the next week or so, or get the new man in PDQ so he has time to look at the squad and strenghthen where he sees fit IMHO
All respect to Neil for realising that it wasn't working (I want to assume that rather than an ultimatum of resign or be sacked!). As for what next? I would assume that Phelen will be given a crack and only if someone who the board already have prior knowledge of from previous/ongoing scouting is available will we see someone else this season. Who that someone might be is difficult to guess after the latest raft of managerial changes. Whoever it is as others have said it is very important to be an experienced manager, prefereably on the up, who or Howe I don't know? What's Mike Wlaker upto these days? How's the skip business going? Bah!
