I'm not even saying either Adkins or Grayson are bad managers - they aren't - I just think we need something with more future potential than they could offer us.

As I say I can't see KR coming anyway. I hope he doesn't stay there too long though, like Tisdale did at Exeter, and miss the boat. Had Tisdale taken the Swansea job when offered it instead of Rodgers, who knows where he'd now be

Only speaking from what I hear from my friends in MK they are if the opinion he has under achieved in L1 with what he has at his disposal

Honestly I have lost interest now whoever comes in has a massive task to get me excited about football again so good luck to the chosen one
I will be behind the new boss 100% Jane wish him well

I'm not sure 'Jane' is the answer! ;)

Just shows it's about opinions. I know a couple of MK fans and they fear that if he goes they will collapse, that he's progressive and talented and is destined for bigger things.

I'd still rather have Rosler anyway. Sadly I don't trust the board to make the right appointment anymore.

why would Phelan be a bad appointment? In terms of dealing with a first team and coaching experience- he has a tad better experience than NA- He is also a fairly single minded (bastard) fella.

It's sad, but neither do I.

A squad of experienced players needed an experienced manager. Now we have cocked up the first half of the season we need a different type of manager. It really has been miss managed at board level.

    Morning all,

Thought I would just share this with you all, Robert Chase (yes THE Mr Robert Chase), has just visited my company on business and well, the goings on at NCFC were obviously mentioned. He seemed more than happy to talk and having resisted the temptation to grill him over the lack of ambition in '89 when investment in the strike force could have possibly seen us win 'the double' ;), he was asked his opinion of Mike Phelan. He was quick to tell us that it was he who brought him to the club initially back in the eighties and considered him a 'nice man' but not 'ruthless' enough to do the job on his own.
Flys in the face of what I thought, I always got the impression that he was not the kind of guy you would want to cross. Having said that of course, that was way back when and people do change.

Interesting. Probably why he's always been an assistant, whilst the man he replaced at Manure went on to manage half a dozen clubs.

Still, I know one club who will happily employ someone with no managerial experience.

I accept that I haven't followed his career and got some of my information off Wiki but it doesn't change the facts. In 3 jobs in Norway he got the sack twice and didn't get the third job full time despite, apparently, doing well in his 8 games on a short term contract. He did well at Brentford but they have done better since he left and was sacked by a very supportive owner at Wigan because he had took them into the relegation zone, he had, allegedly, made bad buys and had, allegedly, lost the dressing room because of his style of play. I have no more objection to Rosler than to any of the other names mentioned but I find nothing in his record to date to support your view that he should be our next Manager. I agree with you that Robinson might do a decent job but it would cost us a lot of money, he would want to bring his own backroom staff with the inevitable cost and upheaval at Carrow Road and, as I have said elsewhere, I cannot see why he would want to come in any case especially as he would realise that the same unrealistic fans would turn on him at the end of the season unless he got us promoted.

I was a tad perplexed as to why the poster scoffed at the thought of you getting Rosler's stats from Wiki then went on about if you had followed his career like him then etc etc.
In what capacity has he followed his career ? Short of attending matches in Norway Wigan or Brentford on a regular basis or personally knowing the guy it is just an opinion and no better than someone counting his win/loss % on the internet.

The problem with assessing managers is that they are almost always doomed to fail. It's pretty much a given that every manager will get sacked. Even Mourinho has essentially been sacked several times.

It's also impossible to find a manager who will 100% guarantee success. You might find a manager who will almost guarantee success with limitless funds, but even with limitless funds there's no guarantee, let alone on a budget (as we remain).

So basically, while it's an empty statement I think it's true to say that there is very little point quibbling over the finer aspects of who we should appoint based on their records. The only real disagreements are about managerial experience, style and personality which mostly come down to personal opinion and preference.

If you like Rosler's or Robinson's style, then I get why you'd be keen on either of them. If you're concerned about how he would fit in at our club and the extent of their respective experience, I understand why you would have reservations about them.

Personally, I would like to see either of them at our club as I like their style and the flavour (particularly) of Robinson's successes so far. I think he would suit us. But I don't think for a minute that either of them will definitely be successful with us. I'd actually say that both of them have less than 50% chance of being successful with us. The managers I think with a better chance of being successful (e.g. Pulis) I would expect to be too divisive or impossible to get hold of.

I don't mean to suggest we shouldn't debate which manager and why nor say that you shouldn't look at their records - you should, they are important - just that it in no way guarantees success with us.

But given the lack of guarantee of success, I really cannot understand those saying they have lost faith in appointments by the board. How can anyone lose faith in something that is largely a roll of the dice anyway? The board are still managing the club well. They made a great roll of the dice in appointing Lambert for which we are still reaping the dividends. We are infinitely better off now than we were 5 years ago. If the next roll doesn't work out, I'm confident one after that will. I merely hope it is sooner rather than later.
