Maybe, but then you're not all that far away to be honest. With a better reserve keeper and a viable backup for Fabregas, you could have the CC in the cabinet already and the FA Cup tie could have gone very differently. Arsenal winning the championship in the next two or three years is nowhere near as big a stretch as Liverpool winning it!! Yeah, I realise that now. It didn't sound that bad in my head! I was trying to say that buying important players in crucial areas doesn't compromise your reputation as a club that relies on talented young players. To my mind, the important thing is to rely on players you've brought through the ranks to fill out the squad, rather than just looking to buy someone whenever you need a player. United could sell Gibson, O'Shea, Brown and Evans and buy better players, but why bother when those players won't necessarily be first choice? Likewise with Arsenal - bringing in another world class CM and good keeper doesn't mean you abandon your existing players.
Just to clarify I wasn't saying you sounded stuck up and arrogant, just that if a person were to say something like 'if we do X we will be amazing' then they would sound stuck up and arrogant. Hope I didn't accidentally insult you
