I don't have a clue what Yappy is going on about with all these numbers! His tactics contradict his tactics so much that i wonder if he actually knows what he's saying himself!. Bizarre bloke.

Yappy - genuine question how old are you? Beyond thinking your a Chelski WUM my concern with the faceless Internet is I could be giving a load of grief to a well intentioned 10 year old r's fan!

As football fans we like to think we have the answers when it comes to what our team really needs .

I have mentioned in the past that I played a bit at a good level albeit a while ago

I started as a midfield player in the UK but was amazed to see the differences when I played in France.

The midfielders there weren't taught at junior level to retain the football at all costs

Today we can look at the very best like Scholes Xavi Inesta etc you can see exactly how easy they make it look

Watch the total midfield from a good team re form if they lose the ball

Look at QPR
We have lost our Xavi although Faurlin was learning all the time he is bound to make the grade IMO as a great player in this difficult position

This is the reason I have never rated Barton at any of the clubs he has been at ... I look at him and at times think he's got this at last only for his positional and pass choice to let him down add in the other factors as he is very average

What gets my goat is how opinions let push this ideal over onto any other player that plats in the midfield for QPR some of which are not born for this role

Diakite I am sure will slot into the hub if our team and is essential do that we can create with other players we have

I hope many of you that didn't know , know now exactly how good Ali Faurlin was for us and exactly why Barton hasn't been

What Faurlin had that Baton hasn't was the ability to always make himself available to receive a pass and then move play on with simple short passes. What pisses me off most about the current team is exactly their lack of moving into space to receive passes. Don't know if it can be taught or if players like Xavi, Scholes and Iniesta were born with this ability.

Baron is a disaster in regards to this.

Yes i think he's a Wum. the point about coaching badges was due to the opinions of Yappy. he could in theory sit well within FA headquarters!

But if you don't play in the formation to get into those positions it will never work.
As far as the way MH is playing his idea of 4-4-2, it ain't it, with Barton sitting back as DM, as everybody claims!

In MH's situation, he hasn't quite figured out how to properly use the middle, the supposed DM, in Barton. And we've been exposed. Especially when the DM has been losing the ball right in front of our back 4 line, with bad passes or being tackled. And hasn't quite figured out who would mark whom from match to match. Nothing wrong with man-marking, and then switching the mark, but I really haven't seen a concerted effort in maintaining it and keeping the pressure up the field rather than sit back and absorb, which we are trying to do, but since Barton keeps coughing up the ball, it hasn't worked very well.

But it's OK..... I am not MH. He'll do what he thinks works. But I've always said, he doesn't quite know how to manage the defense. And obviously still hasn't quite figured it out.

Whatever the case may be, I'm just throwing out ideas as what we have currently doesn't seem to be enough.

I for one would like to go to the 5-3-2, since our LB and RB in Young and Traore can attack up the sides fairly well, so we can use them that way, but always have 3 CBs in the middle at the back. Which you could also call it 3-5-2, it would almost be the same thing, since we need to score a lot more to make up our goal differences.

What's the big problem with Yappy's 5-3-2 / 3-5-2? It is not new and it can work. Didn't Liverpool play this or similar some years back? With our defensive problems, we should be looking at any possible ways of tightening up! 3 CD's, with typically 1 fairly mobile, Onouha maybe, 3 CM players, Adel, Barton and Diakite perhaps, with the 2 overlapping full backs providing width, and 2 up front.
