I wouldn't have been surprised if Wisdom was shown a red. It was a dreadful challenge. It's hard to excuse tackling recklessly, studs-first. To do that in your own penalty area is very silly.
I still think that's a fair old exageration. He was still on his feet and going for the ball, he was likely trying to be strong in anticipation of a block tackle from their player, it was reckless in the box after a fashion given the likely consequences of getting it wrong, but he got the ball and it was a smidgion of imprecision and a failure of the other player to directly contest the ball that led to him following through in such a way. If the ball stays between them then it's a block tackle and no problem it's that it squirted out and exposed the other players foot/ankle, I'd argue not really high enough or with the necessary intent for a red. And like I say Kahzri was off his feet and higher in his earlier challenge on O'neil and having only given him yellow, Wisdom if being consistent could not be shown red. Bah!
No, sorry Melchy, he didn´t actually get the ball, he only grazed the top of it, and then went straight through onto Borini´s instep, and anyway Wisdom wasn´t shown a red, but as I said earlier on the thread, if that incident had happened anywhere outside the area, he might easily have been given one - they´ve been given for less. (I don´t know whether you have Canary Player, but if you do, they show the incident from some good angles from about 3 min 20 secs in, to about 4 mins.)
That is getting the ball though! He caused a deviation in the path of the ball. I know he wasn't shown a red and nor should he have been no matter where it was on the pitch. I can acknowledge that they are sometimes given, but I'm sure that in this instance where ever it was on the pitch it didn't warrent one (Only instance I think could be red, is if he was the only defender between Borini and goal and it was seen as preventing a 1on1 goal scoring chance) Again and you don't seem to want to engage with the other side of my argument. Karzi had had a similar and in my opinion worse tackle on O'neil only punished with a yellow, so even by PL inconsistencies in refereeing that would make a Wisdom red card less likely and even more unjust had it been administered. Bah!
Nothing to do with not wanting to Melchy, just not exactly sure of the point you are trying to make . Are you suggesting that Karzi should have had a red, and that therefore Wisdom should have had a red, or that because Karzi only got a yellow, a red for Wisdom ( which never appeared) would have been unjust if it had done? My opinion is still the same, and I never once said that Wisdom should have had a red, I said that he might easily have been given one, by numerous referees, if that challenge had appeared outside the area.
Come to think of it, parts of that don´t make an awful lot of sense either but then again I am lying at home with pneumonia, so possibly the brainwaves are somewhat impaired. Do now remember the O´Neil incident - nasty tackle, so I think we probably do pretty much agree, Melchy. Have a good afternoon.
Kahzri's foul (foot stamp) was a yellow, and so was the one on Borini, a lot of Norwich players were dropping in the penalty area as well. And that was a heavy shoulder charge on Yedlin, had that been Cattermole a battle would have ensured.
The diving by Naismith and Mbokani was embarrassing, as a Norwich City supporter I don't want to see our players doing that!
Who knows! It's all about opinions and debate. There's 25001 managers at every game, most don't agree with each other!
