You mean Catholics are financially better off than Protestants. It's a vicious circle for Proddies. They have less money so cannot afford to send their kids to decent schools meaning the gap between them and Kafflicks grows ever wider. Hence you end up with the likes of Medro whose poor educational standard is apparent in the limited choice of subjects he chooses to post about on not606. It all makes sense now.

Dont know the craic in Ireland/Glasgow but in England and specifically in the county I live in and worked in, the catholic schools are where most parents (regardless of religious orientation or lack off) want to send their kids The catholic schools are consistently on the top of league tables and the kids go on to higher education I think things like teachers attitude etc, implanted via their beliefs?, helps. The schools my kids (I dont send them to a religious orientated school as I wouldnt let them part take in some of the ceremonial stuff like religious (christian) assemblies and you have to as its the ethos of the schools) go to had heads that were religious and the schools were achieving and gaining good ofteds etc. 1 head has left to be replace by a 'I am one of the kids and cool' type of head and the school has gone down hill since. All the modern, play the radio during lessons, methods are being implemented but a few kids have been removed. Even we are looking at another school that has been improving rapidly and now has a waiting list. coincidentaly the head is a catholic (although the schools is non religious) and a practicing one. Even some of the teachers from my kids school have recommennded this school and some send their own kids there. I also understand that Islamic schools tend to have good results as well, but we dont have one locally yet. Will from September though so will see how it goes
