    I'm done now.

From now on anyone can say anything they like, accuse me of lying or (again) saying things I never said and I won't respond, as rationality apparently goes out of the window if religion is even mentioned. Words change their meanings and anything anyone says in even mild disagreement is seen as deeply insulting. Oddly enough, though, not by me. I've tried to be specific and use words that Jones has actually been reported to have said. I've tried to keep it to the subject of NJ's conversations with God rather than his general religious beliefs but it looks like people want to be offended by what they think I've said rather than what I've actually said.

    So, fill your boots.

    Vin

Only if you remove the second half of the paragraph. The full paragraph says:

"“I went to God after the game and said, ‘Why did you do that?’ It was a big moment. And all he said was: ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ I read it that day, during my daily reading: be still and know that I am God.” During his quiet time with God, the passage, from Psalm 46:10, jumped out at Jones completely at random."

No mention of voices in his head. He was praying and reading the Bible and a passage stood out to him. I'm not religious myself but I know this is reasonably common among those who are.

Edit to add I have no wish to criticise you personally or accuse you of lying. I just disagree with your interpretation of what's been said/written there.

Back to the topic at hand: our moves thus far in the window suggest that management was not expecting (and does not expect) hoofball. A winger who likes to cut inside, an attacking central mid/winger, and (in Moffi) a striker who does all his work on the floor...none of them remotely fit a 3-5-2 playing long balls. So either we anticipate Jones evolving in short order, or Jones likely won't be here long.

I talk to God several times every day, as most people who believe in God do. I have never heard or pretended to hear an audible voice telling me to pick Lyanco at RB. That’s not how prayer works, for anyone I know.

“Be still and know that I am God” is a line from one of The Psalms. It’s an admonition to find a place of meditative calm in the presence of the Creator, but it works equally well for those for whom “God” is a metaphor for any sacred or profound mystery.

His tactics seem to be for Lyanco to pass it to God to be more accurate

I don't think there was any inference made to be fair that being a Christian made him a crap/bad/awful manager.

My interpretation was that he stated in the article that he was a Christian (great, each to their own, I am a Catholic Atheist FWIW), but he not only had faith but actively spoke to god and listened (to the voice in his head that he interpreted as God) to lead his way. Again fine. You can be from any religion or no religion and listen to the voice in your head (AKA gut feeling for those that have no faith). However, my worry was that he listened to that voice and won't waver as it is God telling him what to do. Therein IMO lies the worry.

I get gut feelings about life decisions all the time. However, if I feel subsequently (be it 10 mins or 10 days later) that it may not be the right path, I re-evaluate. That is because I don't think God told me, but it was the inner workings of my brain.

My worries with this would be the same with any religion. It would be the same if he said "Once I get a gut feeling, I won't change as my gut is 100% correct all the time, eventually"

I am not anti-religion either - even though being indoctrinated as a Catholic from an early age turned me off it in my later years. A little story on how I think Religion helps. My Daughter's mother in law is from Cuba (lived in the US since Castro forced them all out). She is one of the most Catholic people I have ever met. Everything is about God and his way. Lot's of lip biting on my behalf to be fair when I am around her. However, about 5 years ago she was diagnosed with cancer. It didn't look good. She went to the doctor, did all that was asked, but ultimately she said that she spoke to God every day and prayed that he would see her right. She has been in remission for a few years now. Her faith got her through a very hard time in her life. She believes that God saved her. I believe that the doctors saved her. Either way it doesn't matter, IMO her positive mindset (given by faith) contributed considerably to her getting better.

You all think that I am a happy clapper and too positive. BE POSITIVE, it helps your mind, it helps your body. You also can follow any religion and get the same results.

    TIOON7 lecture over :)

EDIT: He could follow like I do the church of Kylie M, but I still think he should go

Can we stop the religion talk now please? It is, after all, one of the taboo subjects on this forum.

Wonder how much time Jones gets, considering survival is 'essential' to SR?

At least that explains all the people leaving.

Tbh I’m not against shaking up things. These are presumably the same scouts that found Djenepo, Ely etc.

I would certainly say that our recruitment under SR has been an improvement on recent times. Our main issue stems from the amount of turnover we needed to do this summer and the positions that we failed to address. Most of the incomings look good and have been some of our better players with plenty of room to improve.
If staying in the PL is so important to SR then I expect us to have a strong transfer window. I imagine they'll try to give Jones some time with the new signings, but if things don't improve quickly thereafter then they will need to roll the dice one last time.

This isn't aimed at you, many of us have mentioned the 6 weeks to work with the squad, I certainly thought myself that it would be beneficial.

What nobody, as far as I can recall has said, is that every other team has also had 6 weeks to work on things, so in a way it's a moot point, it's not something that was exclusive to us.

I honestly believe that NJ saw them in training and decided to play a particular way to try a bit of damage limitation. This is after all a group of players that have not won an awful lot over the last calendar year and beyond.

He would have hoped to have a few points on the board but hey that's football! SR seem to be backing him with transfers, let's see what happens!
