This is the difference between klopp and tuchel..tuchel was critical of players. Klopp takes responsibility and praises opponents. He can see reinvention in 3 days.
I'd have liked this post except for the highlighted bit. I don't want him anywhere near midfield. He consistently created more from the wing rather than strolling around the midfield. He made himself one of the best attacking full-backs in world football, in midfield he's average with the occasional glory moment. I'd fine the bugger every time he strays more than 10 yards from the touchline.
one of the best attacking FULL BACKS in world football must surely have a little bit of defending ability.
He has, when he can be arsed. That's my point, by drifting into the middle he completely reneges on his defensive responsibilities. Pisses me right off.
Lol where do we begin with that? Let’s be honest, a drubbing was a long time coming. When we’re getting outplayed by pretty much every team this season (and not even good teams), it was inevitable that a half decent team like Napoli would run rings around us. There are just too many issues at the club at the moment : - under performing world class players. We need better from Trent, VVD, fab and Mo. However, how much of their poor performances are down to personnel and the structure? That’s why I will half defend them for the time being until the team structure is in place. We instant saw fab go up a level when Thiago came on, and VVD looked more comfortable when Matip came on. - the lack of a midfield. God only knows how Klopp genuinely believed that midfielders he had the club were good enough for this season. Everyone knew we needed a midfielder - we needed one last year. Now we’re In a position where we need 2 minimum next summer or earlier. - Klopp questioned why we didn’t counter pressure - well, he’s starting Milner and Elliot in midfield!! It’s not rocket science. I can go to town on Milner but st the end of the day, he’s not picking himself. It’s on Klopp. And we’re relying on a 19 yr attacker to play RCM. The whole balance is completely off. Admittedly, Napoli had taken their foot off the gas but Thiago came on and what a player. He won the ball back around 7-8 times in 30 mins ffs. His intelligence and positioning is so good. That’s before we even talk about the quality on the ball, as soon as he came on. - all of this is on Klopp / owners IMO. Underperforming players suffering in an imbalanced team, the lack of desire to strengthen the midfield when the money is there to be spent. This club has been arrogant since winning the CL. Prior to the CL, we spent big on Allison, fab, VVD etc. we built a proper world class team. Then we won a few trophies and thought ‘it’s ok, we don’t need to keep strengthening. Just buy the odd player or two and all will be well’. That’s not to say we’ve not signed good players since - but we simply haven’t bought enough. You only have to look at the boost that diaz gave us in January to see how it give players some momentum. Players like VVD are human as well - they can feel naturally demotivated when they feel that the club isn’t pushing and being aggressive.and that’s what’s happened. The club went stale and it’s criminal. They ran these world class players into the ground and expected to keep going with no drop off. Why the hell did we not have a kostas like back up for Trent sooner? Why do we still not have a back up for Fabinho? Why is Thiago our most important midfielder even though he’s injury prone? you would have thought the club had learnt their lesson after the CB debacle a couple of seasons ago but no. We didn’t exactly the same this season - and before anyone comes back with ‘we have 8 midfielders’, I don’t care about the quantity. Literally 6-7 of them are either injury prone or simply not good enough. Instead, we hand out contract extension of people like hendo and Milner because of their ‘influence off the pitch’. No doubt, we will offer bobby An extension even though he’s been washed for 2-3 years. Klopp needs to make some ruthless decisions now and if he can’t, then Julian ward needs to step up. Because it’s criminal that we’re wasting another season and year of world class players because we didn’t want to refresh the squad and upset existing players.
Another thing - we clearly don’t have the personnel to keep playing the same style so why the **** is Klopp persisting with it!! Just for one or two games until players are back, just let the team drop and sit back and provide a little more protection to the back line. The midfield does not have any legs or speed in transitions to support the attack or protect the defence
Klopp’s Dortmund has the same crap season after Lewandowski said he was leaving to Bayern. And by the end of that season Klopp had left. What I’m not seeing on the pitch is Leadership. Who is the leader when Henderson isn’t on the pitch because I can’t tell. As Roy Keane usually says there would be punches swinging in the dressing room at HT after a first half like that. As talented as Trent is, would he have been allowed to keep doing what he’s not doing defensively in the Utd team under Fergie before somebody put him right. Familiarity breeds comptempt. Pep has no problem binning off players and replacing them, but he has the money provided to do so, but he is also ruthless. We need Klopp to get back being that.
We had Milner on the pitch. I thought he was supposed to be a leader? we literally gave this dog an extension because of his so called influence. We’ve also dropped points in the same manner even with Hendo in the team this season. The issue isn’t the ‘lack of leadership’. It’s a structural, tactical and physical issue
Oh great so we've gone from the man united fans wanting a pat on the backside to the Liverpool fans wanting their arses licked in the space of just 4 games .
This is the sad truth VVD- legs are gone, confidence to attack players or just wait for them to make thier move is gone. He's fallen over two lads now for two pens and is getting run. thats a leader by virtue of being a god gone. Milner - can't lead if he can't run, nobody will listen to him. vdd and him fighting on the pitch at utd says it all. Fabinho - never a loud player, quiet but quietly ineffective as well. Matip - mad as a badger, not on the pitch. henderson- reality check, can't run either Thaigo. came on and made challenge but can't get about, needs time and recovery time to get match fit. Salah - couldn't even control a ball. no talk, not running. head down Robbo -should be a leader and show aggression but not getting kicks in even. people are fairly savage on here but the entire left side is not working as a unit. i'd want to see him kicking people off the park Diaz- can't speak a word of English but haring about trying, one individual run and shot is not really enough either though, the efforts need to be part of the whole going the right way. he's being let down.
The players are no longer listening to Klopp. Or if they are they are no longer buying in to what he's saying.
