No, we've got no excuse. Seeing how poor most of the rest of the teams are just makes it worse.

Agreed. I think the 07/08 season was the best for English football. Three English teams in the Semi finals. The same again in 08/09. Now the quality has dropped heavily and I don't if this is due to the teams you mentioned becoming vastly superior to everyone else or the other teams just regressing.

The Italian league is worse than I can ever remember.
Outside the top 2, Spanish teams are weaker.
English teams are having a complete mare.
Bayern are doing their usual but the other German teams didn't show up.
Russian teams are there but no-one expects them to get past the qtrs.

****e, it's worse than I thought - Utd really blew it by not getting though a piss-easy group.

It was a good game to watch. I think it's going to be a tall order for Chelsea to turn things around, you don't want to be chasing the game with the way they counter attack

I'm sure the media will have a field day with AVB again tonight/tomorrow.
What them and people need to realise is Chelsea are in the process of re-building a team and a major transition and the fact they're still in the Fa cup, the champions league and joint 4th in the league is a miracle.
They should be mid-table and out of everything yet they're not.
AVB is doing a amazing job in my opinion and you should be happy with this season, obviously it's a nightmare because you're playing **** but it's to be expected. Look at liverpool, they needed re-building and Kenny is finally managing to get them better and better. These things take time

Its depressing, but I still believe our turn round by AVB will be worth the sort of disappointments like tonight! He did all the right things, but I think we all knew beforehand where we were headed tonight!

To be fair, Torres was the last big punt at quick success and it isn't working out so far.

Chelsea need to get their FFP ducks in a row so I think they'll give AVB a chance to build something longer lasting that costs less.

Bullshit, we were very closely matched in that game and it could've gone either way, the only players that scare me are the front three.

But you have to remember the quality of opposition was at an all time low in the 07/08 season.

    <doh><doh><doh><doh><doh><doh><doh><doh><doh><doh>

Of course the quality hasn't dropped, just like the Premier League it's just getting narrower.

I don't mind losing like that, our team fought with desire unlike against Everton and Birmingham.

We can definitely turn this around in the 2nd leg.

First cup final for how long? Fa cup 1/4 finals for the first time in how long? Challenging for a top 4 spot for the first time in how long? They've improved and he has even got that donkey carroll scoring. They're slowly on a upward curve
