I heard one of the football pundits talking about fans the other day on the TV, and he said something that was very true. The one thing you can count on the Stoke fans for is that their support for the team is unwavering, whether they're winning or losing. When they're losing, they don't start booing or pile the pressure on their own guys. They just support the team come sun or rain. Contrast that with Arsenal, where one bad performance instantly results in cries of "WE SUCK", "F*CK YOU [insert name of manager/player here]", and "We're gonna start losing loads now, back to the old ways, blah blah". It's time we accepted it. Arsenal fans f**king suck in comparison to some other teams.
big, big disappointment. even after the 1st half it looked good. a very unprofessional performance really - poor from Arteta, poor substitutions.
This is a game to forget. We're through and that's what counts. Bit of a kick in the teeth that we've finished second and will face tough opposition in the next round, but we're going to face the likes of Bayern, Milan or Barca at some stage if we want to progress in this comp. Let's just hope we put in a better performance on sunday.
I don't think we suck, but it was a sucky performance, and yes, **** Arteta, he got booked for 2 dumb needless fouls, he needs to roll his sleeves up and start performing again, because he's looked average and weak in quite a few games so far this season, he can add another one today. He let the team down today by getting sent off when he was the captain and an experienced head the team needed in that midfield. We could have easily gotten knocked out because of his stupidity.
To be fair, it's pretty much only Hans and Arsenal87 who come out with comments like that after a poor game.
no we are not . We went into this game with totally the wrong attitude. When they score ONE we STILL had it , Arsene needed to tell them to play to WIN this game . He clearly didnt. Thats worrying,
That's 2 abysmal showings in a row, meanwhile Citeh look awesome, you really think we're going to have a chance against them?
Yep. We played conservatively and payed the price. That was not the Arsenal we are used to and it's not the way Arsenal are used to playing. Poor management today, we needed to approach this game intending to win it, not to try and concede as few as possible, as it almost cost us big time.
Personally the result was perfect, Napoli thought they'd done it and lost at the final hurdle, couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people If you're gonna win it you'll have to beat 2 or three of those anyway, whether you do it now or later doesn't matter, or is it gonna be like your usual EPL challenge, just do enough to be in top 4 and you're happy?
Well the tough group lived up to expectations with all 3 teams finishing on 12 points with one win and one loss against each other. Hoping for PSG or A. Madrid but if our luck over the last few seasons is anything to go by its Barca, Bayern or Madrid for us.
