I agree with you mate. They are saying we could be docked points if we don't pay up now. It didn't take long before all of this became about the money!
"They" is some lawyer from Zurich who has no authority in this matter. Probably stating his opinion to drum up publicity and business. I see he was with FIFA until 2005 so is possibly from the Blatter school of doing business. There are clearly many questions to be answered and the first instalment may well be due. However this could have been handled a lot more sensitively.
This is a hard one, we as supporters do not know the finer parts of the contract but I believe that Cardiff must be able to examine all due process before money changes hands.
Absolutely spot on - some posters need to come into the real world. Principles are fine but only exist in a simple world. This world of football of ours that we enjoy superficially isn't too well blessed with sporting principles - it's a hard nosed business.
I think you should pay up , but NOT before the facts about what person persuaded the young man to fly across the channel at night in an old plane single engine plane ( he would not have known that ) . Someone was penny pinching and 2 people lost their lives as a result of that . Don't forget that his former club et 50% , so maybe the pressure on Nantes demanding the money is coming from them ? Either way tragic . I am sorry for you as fans , but not that sorry until Saturday evening
Bordeaux have said they have made no request for Nantes to pay them their share from the sell on clause. (There's probably a silent "YET" in there, but appear to be acting compationately at present.)
I’m in the legal profession and always advise people their rights or liabilities are in the contract, and if applicable the governing rules and regulations of the industry. If there is a genuine dispute or issue to be resolved then that is what a court of law or arbitration is for. This is obviously a humane and commercially sensitive case and it doesn't help with attention seeking comments from this overseas lawyer. It’s a matter for the 2 clubs and if pertinent the football authorities and the correct dispute resolution forum; and not trial by the media and public opinion.
