Seems that more and more stadium naming rights are being sold off to the biggest bidder at the moment.

For new stadiums this is not much of a shock, however when a traditional stadium gets renamed it can make a fair few fans a bit angry.

How would you feel if SoL got renamed in order to generate an extra revenue stream?

Personally, I would not be too bothered as long as it was a decent name, as the SoL has not being part of our club for too long.

It's going to happen so we will just have to get used to it. Every club will be doing it soon but probably with a lot more delicacy than agent Ashley has so far.

I do think that we will retain the SOL part though, ie The Samsung SOL (Korean investment being so obviously sought) would be just fine with me.

Was going to say exactly this, as i type it out with my Samsung Galaxy S2 mobile phone.

The Samsung Stadium of Light would be my ideal choice. Would love them as shirt sponsor too. My TV is a Samsung n all, I think i might name my son Samsung. I quite like Samsung if I haven't mentioned :-D

Parkersafc do you have a Samsung fettish?

Must admit the Samsung Stadium of Light does have an appeal. If Niall gets something out of the Korean trip, there could be quite a few sponsors who would be willing to have their names on the stadium and pay handsomely for the prviledge

Samsung would be excellent to have as a sponsor.

Only downside would be that Apple would find some way to sue us, for some kind of made up patent infringement just to get back at Samsung for outselling the iphone 3 to 1.

I think if we were still at Roker Park then I'd be appalled if they were changing the name - but the SoL I don't mind - it doesn't have the same history that Roker had so all in all not really bothered as long as it's good for the club

What's in a name unless it is a ridiculous one. It depends on how you name the ground. Obviously something like the Kentucky Fried Chicken stadium would be daft. We could be the Tombola Stadium lol

Don't Care, whoever offers the most money

Its not got any history so I can see why you wouldn't be bothered, it might be a good thing considering there already is another Stadium of Light as well.

Age of stadium has nothing to do with it.

If our's was named the Samsung SOL for instance it would be fine, or more truthfully very acceptable with the money it would also bring. To call it only the Samsung Stadium isnt.

The Sports Direct @ Sid James Park, or some other title would also be fine if it brought in revenue but to drop the Sid James bit is wrong.

Funny as **** though as well for all of us. Lol

Just as long as ES doesn't want to name it after himself..

How ****e would the "Short stadium" be..
