List the players that have scored 30 goals in the premiership, you will find that one man has done it 3 times. Shearer. end of debate.
Henry Shearer Drogba Suarez Fowler Although I'm not sure I'd call Suarez a striker/centreforward If you have to leave him out as a wide forward like Bale and Ronaldo, then throw in Bergkamp or RvN
Fowler before RVN. Deluded scouser. Fowler is a average prem striker that was crap in Europe and for England.
You really talk ****e at times. Fowler showed his class in an average team. He would have been unplayable with a midfield of his quality behind him, I.e. Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano.
Shearer, Henry, Drogba, Van Nistelrooy, Fowler (93-01 anyway, it went downhill very quickly after that). Bergkamp, Hasselbaink, Van Persie, Owen and Rooney rounding out the top 10. Suarez could make the list but I'll wait a few seasons to see if this year wasn't just a fluke.
hahaha Yorke was less prolific than both and was in one of the best United teams ever (treble winners), compared to JFH, who was just in a top 6 team with Chelsea.
But on a real note why are Lord Bendtner and Lord Heskey not included in the polling? Unless you just wanted to give the others a chance at winning.
It is not surprising that someone with an equine username such as Shergar would defend RVHorstelroy so obsessively. Neutrals on this poll seem to rate Drog and RVN
why do people refer only to this season for Suarez. He got 23 league goals last season as well, he's been top dog for his national side for ages with 38 in 77, was player of the tournament in the 'south american euros' and score 81 in 110 at ajax. if there is any fluke period it's his first 12 months in England where he score a lot but not a ridiculous amount. I'd leave him out because he's not really a striker and has almost always been deployed more as a wide forward, but if you're not convinced of his quality over an extended period of time then the only reason is you're deliberately not wanting to see it. I'd have Henry as top though. Hard to beat that.
I guess he will be judged more accurately against the others when he retires or leaves. People tend to look back with rose tinted glasses perhaps. Suarez is a fine player but a few things probably add up to count against him. Not an out an out striker, no European experience to talk of, spent a lot of time in a weak Dutch league (kezman and others have scored loads in that league), hasn't won the P.L etc.
