Protests do no good, if an owner wants to change the colours, the badge or the the name, its going to happen.

But with the 2 examples recently,
Cardiff change to Red, get promoted using Kims money.
Hull get promoted using Allams money, now he wants to change the name.

End of the day, both Chairman have took those clubs into the premier league, and they are not struggling to stay there.

Would i take a name change to be mid-table in the premier league? absolutely

So, if your owner decided to call you Rutland Rats as long as you were in the premier league you would not care?

Well it would still need Leicester in it, but if its Leicester Rats, sure <ok> though it would make no sense. Leicester Foxes, no problem at all
Roman name for Leicester was :-
Ratae Corieltauvorum.

Connection to rats perhaps but cannot see anyone wanting be called the rats (except millwall)
