Allam Marine profits have halved according to the last set of accounts. He'd be a fool to throw money away like some suggest he will do if he doesn't get his way.
To justify the change of name? Maybe there wouldn't be the same fuss if he showed that he could get £10m a year in sponsorship through changing the name.
Its not about money to me, but I dont think as many people would have a problem with it if he could show that he would get any amount of extra money from changing the name. To my knowledge no one has shown any marketing study or any logical argument for why changing the name will bring extra revenue in. I think to some that is the bigger problem.
Established supporter groups have processes that they have to follow. This slows down the information highway. Campaign groups by their nature can have a mandate from their members from the start. Its easier to set a group up than it is to change an existing one. By the way there is no actual proof that Assem Allam only applied because of the other application. What is more likely is that someone pointed out that the longer he delayed the less likely that a decision would be made in time for next season.
We have £48m of directors loans sitting on the balance sheet in the last financial results. If he decides to sell up he would want this settling as part of any deal, so don't expect too many people queuing round the block to take over.
I don't see why anybody would be outraged that he's been forced into acting now anyway. What's the alternative, he goes slowly and this **** is dragged out for years?
Whilst I agree, it was only a week or two ago Allam was saying "Why the rush for a decision? Have I dumped City now? Why so much fuss? Should we not be enjoying the football?" Dr Allam had said at the time. "Talk about this when it comes along. It will be months and months before we decide but the media want to make a big thing of it. I have not removed City and will not for a good few months, so why the fuss?"
Maybe he's just getting things ready in place. He could always cancel it should he change his mind. Maybe he thinks sticking the application in will stop people thinking there's something to do about it it and gradually calm the protest down. He's done the right thing as far as I'm concerned, in fact it was probably Brucey's idea, but now there's nothing to be done but wait and see what the FA decide so hopefully a lot of the angst will die down and it will be more business as usual on a match day. Although I do hope the singing of "city til we change" carries on at 19:04 each game as a platform to hopefully build more atmosphere from.
With the representatives from the FA attending on saturday I think there will be even more people making their feelings known in a positive way.
Careful, that doesn't fit with the Agenda on here. Still, was at least good of the FA to let him know about the other application, I mean if they were dead set against us changing, they'da allowed that through and claimed confidentiality. Shows they listen to and respect the big man.
It's a disgrace that it's even got this far! Global Branding? How much is this guy seriously going to invest? Newcastle Magpies would destroy me, so you have my sympathy and best wishes.
I think you lose any right to be indignant with these posts. You seem to be saying that the club's name has a price, if that is the case then AA has already forked out £70m, so he has paid the price of your logic.
